I would think that the opposite would more likely be true then what you are saying. Especially with the self-centered part.

Well I disasgree, but I should probably rewatch the scene before arguing further.

[up][up] I thought she just didn't notice, being focused on the race and all.

Same here. She seemed very focused on the race and was probably feeling all kinds of squigly over creating a Rainboom. Though she must have had one major Oh Crap moment when it wore off.

That's the thing; she probably wanted to help Fluttershy when she stepped in, but it very rapidly became about being the person who won the race (and maaybe also being the person who helped Fluttershy), not about helping her.
I'm 8ad, and that's good. I will never 8e good, and that's not 8ad. 8ecause there's no one I'd rather 8e... than me.

@J Teeth: While that may be a possibility I think if she was really that self-centered she would have either not intervened or joined in on the side of the bullies.

I can't say my parents were into robots.
Yeah, Andromeda is heading for you. You got over 9000 years until it collides.

I don't see any issues with self-centered and egotistical people standing up for others. I've seen plenty of people do the right thing for those reasons before. Standing up for others isn't antithetical to those motivations in the slightest. In fact, self-centeredness and egotism are at least as likely to encourage that behavior, because they are antithetical to cowardliness, perceived or real.

There is a tumblr about an insane thread about ponies.

Hurray, another literal song!

Literal songs are funny the first or second time, but the novelty quickly wears off.

Though I guess it's different if you need it to describe what's happening in the video.

Actually, that's probably true. Bloody visuals.

I'll be the first to grab a pair of cyborg eyes, even if I end up looking like the love child of Derpy and a Deep One.

Always thought of making the Deep Ones into Seaponies if I everdid any Lovecraft. They'll lure you into the sea with their hypnotic shoop-shoobie-doos.

Well the main problem is connecting it up with the nerves with enough fidelity to simulate real vision. They're really tiny and complicated.

Hopefully things are better when the retina is still intact, since it just means fixing up the lense somehow.

Well, my right still has a working retina . Though there's enough damage from previous collapses and the strain of cataracts that there's not a whole lot to save.

I've given up hope at this point.

If it's cataracts and the like, you can get new eyes transplanted, can't you? I mean, it'd probably be hella expensive, I guess...

They are coming up with robo-eyes, though. It's pretty cool stuff. You could be the next Blind Meg!

I don't get why people seem to insist on characters having the exact same motivation for doing everything that they do.

Oh, she didn't realize someone was in danger because she was in the middle of a race! She must be a selfish person with an ulterior motive for anything good that she does!
