I've thought of that idea as a potential fic premise with the idea being yes Pinkie can get like that sometimes, but over all she's the still the fun-loving mentally adjusted pony. Basically a reconstruction of Pinkamina where she's more sad and confused than anything else.

The Masterpiece's take on the Pinkie/Pinkamena dichotomy is pretty similar to your thinking. But it’s not identical, so don’t let that dissuade you from pursuing your idea. The Masterpiece is also a bit darker than you describe—not Pinkamena herself, but the circumstances that led to Pinkamena developing Dissociative Identity Disorder.

And, since today is apparently National Jump To Conclusions Day...
