Kirk is very much a cowboy. He largely works on gut intuition and advice from his crew letting them speak just about freely and listening to their opinions.
Picard is very strict with his crew but still cares for them just as equally. Though he does it through control and is very calm when giving orders. In fact, you could count on one hand the amount of times he's been angry or lost his cool.

Personally, I'd say Picard's the better captain, though you wouldn't know it if you asked a casual fan or Original Series fan.
edit: Yeah, those were the only times he was downright furious. And it's all the more scary because of it.
You can get Kirk mad fairly easily, but if Picard personally hates you, then you are going to be slowly and methodically demolished.

Not as much, no. He does do some romancin', but you'd have to sleep with half the women in the universe in order to compete with Kirk.

- Spock: Pretty obviously Twilight Sparkle.
- Mccoy: Spike? At any rate, he's got the snark down and would still have the chemistry with Twilight.
- Nurse Chapel: Fluttershy
- Scotty: Applejack.
- Not sure about Rarity. Either Yuhura as admittedly a bit of a place holder or possibly Picard.
