There already is some of that. But what you should do is ponify the background humans and then humanize them again.

In terms of recognizable background ponies humanized, there's Tootsie here.

She was a filly in the main series

. It's kinda odd, because the vector used in that comparison was fanart, but the official human version has the bow as well.

There already is some of that. But what you should do is ponify the background humans and then humanize them again.

If nothing else, that would at least have them looking like humans with a natural skin color and normal body proportions and whatnot. So it's not completely redundant.
