Huh, really? Does it get a bit of a bad rep among the fanbase or something?

Well it has a really stupid moral. Other than that it's pretty average. There were a few funny moments but it doesn't really stand out otherwise.

Life is simple: it has no nontrivial normal subgroups.

@Dark: I thought it was okay, but it had two issues:

1. The moral was completely pointless and contrived.

2. I thought a lot of the flashbacks were a bit of a wasted opportunity. Out of all of them only Pinkie and Twilight's told us much that we didn't already know. The others were amusing, but didn't really flesh out the characters like those two did.

It's hard to say why I like it, the lesson is pretty contrived. Still, I've found to dislike and or like a lot of episodes others do.

For instance, I think Ponyville Confidential is pretty boring.

I think everybody has episodes that they don't get the popularity of. I can not for the life of me understand why Winter Wrap Up was so popular. I mean, it's decent, but as far as quality goes I think it's fairly average.

Ugh, I think I'm gonna be sitting out the EQG series. It sounds really awfull from just about everything I've heard about it. You have no idea how happy I am that I can just easily ignore EQG when it comes out since it's not canon to Mlp Fim.

I do, actually; it's just that I don't agree with the reasons and the flaws outweighed the pros, at least in my opinion.

@Ed: Kind of agree with that. I mean yeah, I think a lot of it sounds kind of stupid, but holy hell do I not want to hear bitching about it for the entire summer.

It was pretty average, but it was also pretty much the first episode of the series that achieved that level of "average" quality. The previous 8 or 9 episodes were pretty weak compared to the rest of the show. Winter Wrap Up is when it started Growing the Beard. Plus, y'know, catchy song.

I watched the EQG trailer ane judged that it doesn't look too shabby. I will definitely check it out.

The trailer is a pretty darn obvious Cliché Storm, btw.

I think you're missing one level of complaints in that summation.

I sort of hope they're playing up that aspect for marketing reasons and the actual thing ends up subverting a lot of them.
