The Ponyville confidential one could actually be an interesting setup for something, But the Mare Do Well idea is, quite frankly, rather tiresome when you consider the mane six never did anything THAT bad. I mean, they were no saints and there was probably an better way of handling the situation than they did, but they didn't even actively mislead Dash. Everything bad that happened to Dash was her own damn fault.

Mare Do Well is something that really shouldn't have a big overblown event directly afterwards, but I can see it negatively effecting their relationship in the long-term, and implies some not so nice feelings and opinions that could be explored, just not in anyway that I think your standard fan fic author is capable of.

[up][up] So I think I'll write a Deconstruction Fic of "Ponyville Confidential" to pass some time.

I could have gotten the whole thing wrong, but has anyone ever considered the past version of Twilight is in a time paradox? If she spends the entire week trying to prevent a disaster only for her future self to warn her of said disaster, then then how did Twilight learn where the time travel spell was? Her future self told her, and her past learned this from her future self, but she never actually learned it to begin with.

@dark: It's a Stable Time Loop. Pretty normal things and way less paradoxical than most Time Travel.

Paradoks would be if Twilight in end could change past or didn't go back in time at all.

And what we got it was standerd Stable Loop. Not fan of those but It's not something what ruined my enjoyment (and i love that episdoe).

Yeah, It's About Time demonstrated your garden variety, one-size-fits-all timeline: Whatever you do to alter the past isn't really an alteration, because it already happened in the past. Think of it like Narrative Causality: It happened because it happened.

And somewhere, in a cafe where a cup of coffee is spilled by a lonely mare onto the lap of a handsome stallion, a stallion levitating a small umbrella smiled knowingly.

Anyway Regarding my Deconstruction Fic idea I need some help with how to start it. (Do I start at the point where the CMC give Diamond Tiara the letter or start slightly after the town reads the paper?)

Depends on how you want to go about it. If you want it to be a sort of mystery off the hop, I'd start it in medias res. Otherwise, it's just simpler to establish it from the beginning of the plot.

I'd take this to the fanfic thread, by the by. IT's basically what we're there for, so...

Doesn't Bruce Timm, like, really like Zatanna?
He married a real-life stage magician woman. Who, from what I've heard, really does wear fishnet stockings.

Ah yes, the good old Ontological Paradox. It helps to assume that the universe functions under Block Time (basically, there's only one timeline and only one past—the time traveler's influence on the past has always been there).
And, since today is apparently National Jump To Conclusions Day...

Wouldn't it only apply as an Ontological Paradox if Twilight did something that would impede past-her going on the quest in the first place? I mean, she may have attempted to, but she failed, so it's not properly a paradox of any sort.

EDIT: Nevermind, I assumed that paradox implied there was some kind of fault in the timeline, not simply that the loop was self-starting(And therefore technically started by nothing at all, which admittedly probably only works so long as the universe doesn't think to hard about it).

No, that's the Grandfather Paradox.

Grandfather paradox: a self-defeating time loop.

Ontological paradox: self-creating time loop.

EDIT: Why the frig does Ontological Paradox redirect to Stable Time Loop rather than to Temporal Paradox?

[up][up]Probably because there's so much overlap. But yeah, the redirect you mentioned would be far more fitting.

Yay, then I am making sense! I's a winner.

But for the record, I do quite enjoy the episode. Second to the Cutie Mark Chronicles as my favorite episode of the series.
