Maybe it's cuz of all her character development, but I'd argue that Rarity is the most complex

Haven't really seen the new episode. I'm going with your word that she is the most complex for now.

My head-cannon is now that Dinky and Sparkler are really really close cousins on there father's side that are close as sisters to each other.

I mean before that too. At the end of Season 1 I'd say she was the most complex

Why is it so hard for you to accept that they're sisters. It's not like there are other ways around the Ditzy issue

I still don't see why sparkler can't be Dinky's sister or even why it means that Derpy and Dinky can't be related.

Just because we "know" who Dinky's sister is doesn't mean that Derpy cannot be her mother.

Or am I missing something important...

It would mean that Ditzy'd have to be a lot older than we thought (late 30's I'd say) in order to have both Dink and Sparkler

I'm a bit confused at how Sparkler being Dinky's sister has some people upset. I can't see how that affects most fanon. Since we don't realy know the age of Ditzy or Sparkler (or anyone for that matter) I see no problem with this. Sparkler may just have left home for whatever reason.

I'm probably missing a good reason.

EDIT 2: Also, I thought Fanon had it the Dinky was adopted. Derpy could have adopted them both. (perhaps they were both sisters before adoption)

Just thought I'd pop in since I've now seen all of the episodes and can officially say I love the show.

Ditzy was at the young flyer's competition (although I personally like to chalk that up to Older than They Look and Ditzy just bullshitted her way into the contest)

Also I believe that if you look closely at the crowd in Twilight's flashback in "Cutie Mark Chronicles" you can see Derpy in the background as well.

Maybe she really is older than she looks.

Right, what I think Is that Dinky and Sparkler are sisters, with Sparkler being almost, but not quite adult enough to be independant when up for adoption for whatever reason. Derpy, for whatever reason, Adopted them both as a young adult. (presumed as she is supposedly about the age of the mane 6, who seem to be young adults themselfs). However, Sparker now is old enough to live on her own and does.

I love Vague Age. Makes WMG so much easier.

@flyingdingo in flashbacks we have also 5-6 Derpys in same time. So can be proof for older Derpy and for many Derpys.

Forgive me, I'm new to the fandom. I know very few of the memes.

Actually, We have no idea at all at how pony ageing works. We don't know when a pony isn't considered young anymore, or when they mentally mature. This lack of knowlage allows us alot of manuvering room when it comes to ages and relationships.

EDIT: yep, Derpy Hooves/Ditzy doo is the one with the bubble cutie mark. And tends to be shown cross eyed.

I think its the Vague Age that's confusing everyone. There's nothing to suggest that Derpy is that much older than Sparkler... or any background pony that's not a filly, really. And there isn't a "teenage" pony model (Young Fluttershy might count, but then again that's only a year older than Young Pinkie).

Because of this, some fans are now saying Derpy is too young to have two daughters, despite the fact we don't know the ages of either Derpy or Sparkler (or Dinky for that matter) and ponies probably age differently from humans anyway.

Background ponies are terribly inconsistent anyways. Sparkler and the other Big Sisters were in the stands watching themselves... not unlike the Young Flyers Competition.

All Dinky/Sparkler thing really does is add fuel for Dinky fanart not involving Derpy. I love Derp-mom, I added most of the Derp-mom pictures in the Fanon Heartwarming section, but I want to see Dinky interact with other ponies you know. That's what I liked about her in "Luna Eclipsed", she was hanging out with the Cutie Mark Crusaders!

Personally I'm subscribing to the half-sisters◊ theory with Ponet being the shared father. He's a purple unicorn! It fits!

And I don't love Derp mom, if they make her Derp sis I would like all those Dinky/Derpy fanarts. There nothing in show supporting any relations between them. They haven't share any scene togheter.

Now i whant to see cute pictures of Dinky and her canonical sister.

Derpy being Dinky's mum may have little canon support, but the fanworks of the pair are too cute for me to want it to be anything other than that.

And I'm sure there is some evidence for the relationship. Its just probably very insignificent, Like Derpys muffin obsesion being based on one word which was probably (but not definetly) said by her.

How did it even start? I know that fanon needs no justification, but someone had to be the first to make it popular.

There's nothing supporting anything with background ponies honestly. I'm still wondering how the hell we jumped to the conclusion that Doctor Whoof is David Tennant as a horse. He doesn't even have a British accent! And don't tell me its the spiky mane, its way too generic!

Doesn't mean fans can't have fun with Fanon, and that's why Derp-mom exists.

This. All the Derpy/Dinky fan-art/ fan-fics are just to damn heartwarming.

"That pony has an hourglass cutie mark! does that mean his talant is time? Hes a time traveler! Wait... Therefore he must be the doctor regenerated as a pony! And look! His hair looks like David Tennant! IT MUST BE TRUE!"
