Well, I believe there's a high-level "Create Undead" spell in D&D that can create vampires out of basically nothing.
I'd already checked hat it can create. Vampires aren't listed.
Also, I remember one story where Dracula, the first vampire, was actually Judas Iscariot, cursed for his betrayal. So, there's that.
So do I! Of course, other versions have Dracula as olde or younger and vampires in general as older or younger.
Caine has been interpretted as the first vampire
Another origin is the victims of the children of Adam and Lilith.
Another is the creation of
Lolth via an artifact (as such, the oldest clan of vampires is associated with spiders and can turn into them among other things]].
@Death: I've still got time to decide. But I'm leaning towards vampire, mummy, death knight, eye of fear and flame and lich. I've also got to think of aesthetic and how it would work with prose about ponies. But I'm thinking that I kind of
have to go mummy. They're too iconic not to. And I need at least one skeleton-like one. Lich works well for a
Big Bad. Vampires are ofcourse iconic and allow for some fun powers. Eye of fear and flame might interact well with crystal pony (yes, one's a crystal pony. Each is a diffeent tribe.)
EDIT: I still can't work out how to download
Grief Syndrome.
