Yeah, donating blood can be a bit freaky. All I can really say is to just relax. Bring like an ipod or something so you can listen to music while you do it.

Yeah I back what JT said. I did it once. It's not too bad, but you might feel woozy afterwards. Get sugar into you...I think.

Also get some vitamins and iron, you'll need to replenish your blood.

I've never had a chance to donate blood; the one time my school did one (this was senior year), my family and I were on quinine supplements so we could go to Belize, and they wouldn't take me.

From what I recall from when my mum donated a couple of times when I was young(Never did myself... I think if the opportunity came up now I'd get tested to see if I was eligible at least, but when it did before I was pretty much terrified of needles. Still don't like em, but I can handle it now), they leave out cookies and juice and stuff for the sake of replenishing.

...You know come to think of it, given the action-oriented nature of a lot of games, it would actually be a very good idea for me to experience the effects of blood loss... bizarre as that is to say.

You might say that, though I think it stretches the definition of suffering a bit. Frankly there's things that Game Designers quite commonly do that make me MUCH more uncomfortable. For example there's pretty much no shooter designer worth his spit who hasn't gone to the shooting range, and quite frankly the idea of holding something designed to kill people as efficiently as possible makes me REALLY nervous.

This is, for the record, the reason I was really nervous about learning to drive at first. IT's better than NOT knowing, yeah, but the idea of being in control of two tons of steel hurtling around at 60 kilometers and hour a few feet away from squishy meaty people isn't an exciting prospect for me.

I've actually thought for a while now that I want to find a shooting range nearby and learn how to shoot. As recreation, naturally; I have no intention of actually owning a gun or anything.

@Kegi: I remember when I was a young weakling and a 5kg air rifle was impossible for me to hold properly :V I'm certain the Singapore-made assault rifle is a lot easier to handle even though I'm not in SAF :V Also I DO handle Nerf weapons on a regular basis

@Apple: Well that... sounds like a fun afternoon. Good idea, though, that's clever. One of my professors showed me an interview with the audio designer for Dead Space... really interesting stuff there. They mixed in animal roars into the necromorph's scream, because they actually found they got a good response out of players - they triggered a sort of primal fear. Lots of industrial sounds too... really cool stuff.

Wow, this PMV is even better with the subs in captions.

I think almost everyone is nervous when they first start driving. Hell, I'm usually still nervous when I drive because while I consider myself a responsible driver, the DC/Metro area has some of the worst drivers in the United States. I use to hate needles too, but I really don't have a problem with them as much as I did.

Oh hi. I'm still working on GD, but uni keeps annoying me with demands for work. So she'll probably be done around Wednesday.

My tutor just sort of chewed me out via email there. He says I'm one of the most poorly prepared students he's got. I'm pretty pissed off at the moment for that. I'm trying for god's sake. And me and my grandfather had a falling out thanks to his stupid class which I'm only doing because it's required. Fuck the chance to work with the BBC, I'm getting really tired of this class.
