On a completely related side note, little by little I'm seeing Derpy/Carrot art. Like, actual shipping art. I thought it was just one of those pairs that just wasn't shipped, probably due to the Heterosexual Life Partners fanon that's everywhere, but no some people actually ship it. Why does this surprise me?

Lyra/Bon Bon? That's fine

Carrot Top/Derpy? Nah they're just friends

Rule of Cute. Lyra/Bon Bon just seems more adorable as a romantic pairing for some reason.

All in all, a pretty good episode. I like how they made a canon cross-species couple, what with Rarity and Sweetie's parents.....Wait, people are wondering how Rarity managed to be so athletic....and her dad has footballs for a cutie mark............So her dad is probably a football player.......This explains why she was so good at beating the others; she and Sweetie are half Earth pony, and their dad was a football player meaning that they inherited his (probable) natural strength! Huzzah!

I think the appeal of Heartstrings/Lyra x Bonbon is partly because they can be adorable whether they're friends or a couple.

Technically his hat could be concealing his horn, like Trixie's and Twilight's big wizard hats... but I love the idea that he's an Earth Pony thus making Rarity and Sweetie half-Earthies. It would explain a lot, actually.

Either way, it is my Headcanon until we see him without a hat.

I'm with Calnos; we don't actually know either way, but it's a) more fun this way and b) it explains a lot. Going into my headcanon as well. Besides, having footballs as your mark doesn't seem to fit unicorns.

Why not be the best of both worlds? XD Seriously though, she seems to be as magical as any other (normal) unicorn, meaning any benefit she gets from being half earth pony will most likely be greatly inferior to any other earth pony. She may have just picked up a few genes for athleticism along the way, or something, which is ironic considering her personality......Or her half-earth ponyness doesn't affect her in any way and I'm just fan wanking.

Rarity's DEX is superb from all the craftskill, so what she lacks in brute strength she makes up for with DEX-agility. Note her use of mechanical advantages bypass her low Strength.

@Scootalone fanart: No wonder she wants to spend time with Rainbow Dash T_T

Considering the fact that she was athletic enough to impersonate Applejack in a race and whip up several outfits in the span of a few seconds, I doubt that she's suffering from being a master of none.

Lol I know; think of it this way, it's like being born to a fashion designer and a star football player. You focus on the fashion designerness, but you still probably have a little bit of your dad's strength in you. So, it's less having to do with her being half-earth-pony and more just her dads strong so she picked a little of it up.

Though it shouldn't be nearly enough to let her compete with earth ponies, so I still have no clue how she managed to be so much better than most there.
