Cant hurt to write to him and explain the situation. Include any correspondence that you had with your partner... forward him emails from the partner if you have them.

This is why group projects are the worst. I hate having my grade tied to the work someone else does, and I hate the pressure of being partly responsible for other people's grades as well.
I have trouble working with groups as well. I always end up either doing everything myself, or letting the rest of the group do everything.
Life is simple: it has no nontrivial normal subgroups.
