What would be the name for a species of pony that are normal by Celestia's day but get turned into wolf/pony hybrids under the influence of Luna's moon? You know, like this

It certainly wouldn't be called a werepony, since (courtesy of the Sonic Unleashed page), "were" is Old English for man, and "pony" is... Well, a werepony is a human that turns into a pony-man at night.

Wax: I recall that being discussed a while back, but I can't remember what the conclusion was. I want to say the prefix is 'Hippo-', but tacking on 'wolf' doesn't really seem right, so I'm not really sure.

Well, I did a bit of research, and there's no Old English root for "pony", just "horse". The Old English root for "horse" is "hors", so I'm guessing the closest thing to what I'm talking about is "horswolf".

@Bluespade: Nope, I want a serious name, not a lazy Werehog-type scenario. The writers of MLP are too smart for that. "Lyca" is a Greek root for wolf, and "Anthrope" is a Greek root for human. Just portmanteauing pony to any werewolf name is too lazy for MLP.

Sesssalisk used "hengswolf". I assumed that "hengs" was an Old English version of horse. Not sure though. I was pleased that she ponified "were" rather than "wolf" though. Especially as someone who knows a werepony would be human that turns into a pony (usually on the full moon) a ponywere would be a pony who turns into a human usually on the new moon).

Also, I'm glad to here that about the future episode. Especially as the son of a disabled woman.
