@Sereg: Well yeah, that's true. I just often hear OCD being used to describe things like disliking broken patterns, which is basically just a matter of how people work, and in actualy fact it's a pretty shitty thing to live with, so it kinda bothers me to see it underplayed and used improperly.

So, The Crystal Heart Spell came out last night. It's a pretty good read, all things considered. The concessions to younger readers are really obvious in some places, and the author seems to be operating under the assumption that Trixie and Gilda either live in Ponyville or are there a lot of the time, but with those details aside, it really does good by the characters, as well as the world-building. Cadance in particular gets a lot of fleshing out.

Random fun facts that weren't given out in the first big leak:

Pound and Pumpkin Cake have learned to say "giddy-up", which is just adorable.
Cadance talks a little bit about friends she had when she lived in Canterlot. Buttercream, an Earth Pony with an affinity for chocolate, and Sky Chariot, a rather up-tight pegasus guard.
The "Crystal Heart Spell" itself seems to be a trait of alicorns. It's a manifestation of a fundimental, personal truth that serves as guidance for the one that invokes it, and invoking it requires that truth to be discovered in the first place. It's definitely not your typical "fix everything" spell.

@Ace She certainly wasn't acting like it. Really, the only details that would need to change would be to have them just passing through rather than being seemingly common sights, and some acknowledgement of Magic Duel, and fixing that wouldn't alter the real plot at all. I'll just headcanon things fitting in properly and be done with it.

I can imagine Trixie stalking Twi to find out her secret so that she can try and become an alicorn too :V

It'd make a beautiful S4 plot, an ambitious unicorn stalking her to find out how it was done.

The best part is that the epiphany that Twilight has is so obvious that it loops back around to unexpected in just about the best possible way. Friendship is what has solved her problems before, so what about being a princess changes that in the slightest?

Dude... Ron Perlman so needs to voice a character in the premier.

"Friendship... Friendship never changes."

He could be like, a bodyguard assigned to Twilight, and he's trying to reassure her that things don't have to be different with her friends. And he'd wind up being a mentor type guy throughout the premier and all that jazz. That'd be awesome.
