personally, I think the witch doctor thing would work better on Coconut. Not with him actually being a witch doctor, but with a witch doctor being one of his best friends back home so he knows a lot of stuff.

Then if you have Doc as a proper doctor, you can play off some friction between the two. Coconut and his crazy native remedies vs. Doc and his proper medicine.

I think if any of the races would be good at herbal alchemy it would be earth ponies. I bet when they make a potion with plants and minerals its more potent than if that potion were made by another race.

I like to imagine zebra magic as having some kind of "unseen" trickster component. Like, in Magic Duel, she refills her cup by covering it from sight for a second. What if their magic only works when nopony's looking? Convenient things happen when you stop looking at them. Watched pots literally never boil.

Like what would happen if SCP-173 was Anansi.

I'm going to second (third? whatever) the herbal specialist idea. It fits in with what we know of EP abilities, like how only Granny Smith can make heads or tails of Zap Apples. Maybe Coconut has the ability to make potions out of magical plants or something.

@Applelight: Sombra is far more powerful than Twilight. If you're looking for pony upper limits, you can go pretty high. Though you'll probably want to work towards that rther than start there.

EDIT: Won't be long before the zebras of my fanverse become important.

Hm, we have an upper unicorn limit, and Applelight's strongpony as the upper EP. What'd be the upper Pegasus limit? I'm guessing either RD, or a weatherpony that can brew a perfect storm in a few minutes.

Jeez, even Treehouse wants to get Season 3 over with. They're already burning off 5 episodes within the course of 2 1/2 hours tomorrow, from 10:30-1PM (One Bad Apple to Just For Sidekicks). Yay, a period where the suffering is prolonged, but it'll at least overall be shorter!

I think Zebra are more closely related to Donkeys though? But no donkey we have seen has had a CM yet... unless what Zecora has isn't a CM but a tattoo or brand?

I wanted to write a story once about a Pegasus Mule... his mother was a Pegasus but his father was a Donkey and how it was hard for him to fit into society.

@Lopiny: RD isn't even at her peak. There's no way she's the upper pegasus limit.

Pegasi, earth ponies and unicorns are supposed to be equally powerful and Sombra's abilities were insane. That means that earth ponies and pegasi can reach that level.

EDIT:

The card calls it a cutie mark.

In my verse, zebras have their own cutie marks which are simpler. In an art style common here in SA. (Zecora's cutie mark is a flower being mixed into a potion).

Throw some herbs on the fire and inhale the smoke to go into a trance.... I could see an EP being able to commune with the dead and have out of body experiences this way

Heh heh...but to reinforce it, what about glowing eyes/body or even levitation? All tribes are magical right? It's just how it manifests itself?

Oh, and I guess EP super growing powers will help with those potions too.

I think if you always kept it to a potion or herbal/earth based magic you it would be usable by an EP and not seem off
