"Dick" as a nickname predates the euphemism by centuries (at least back to Shakespeare). It only meant penis around the turn of the last century.

IIRC "dick" as a kind of cheese was mid-1800's. It also meant a declaration or a riding crop, the latter of which might be where the vulgar use comes from.

Quick question: Does anyone ship Apple Pie? It seems there's very few fics of that pairing. Same with Fluttershy/Rarity. I've gotten a bit of a curiosity in seeing what ships are rare or unusual in the fandom.

Apple Pie is pretty rare, which is a shame because it has such an excellent name. Rarishy is a bit more popular since the two do hang out together fairly often.

I don't think its a hugely popular ship, but it exists. Fluttershy is most likely to get shipped with Rarity or Rainbow Dash. Or, if we want to think totally out of the box and bring heterosexual relationships into the mix, Big Macintosh.

@Crow: Well depending on how you take the comics, Applejack REALLY doesn't seem to like Pinkie Pie. At the very least she finds her a bit annoying and inappropriate.

I never got that one. They don't seem terribly compatable. Besides, he actually has a canan ship with Cheerilee, something very rare in the show as it is. Despite or perhaps the fandom's shipping interests for a show that's a pretty strict follower of no hugging no kissing.

When it comes to mane 6 pairings, I usually prefer Twidash, Pinkiedash, Rarijack and Flutterdash. Mainly because of the potentially funny and cute interactions you can get from those pairings. Although I do wonder why Rarity/Twilight doesn't get much attention {I consider that pairing to be increadably underrated}.

As for hetero pairings, the only one I can think of that I actually like is Spitfire/Soarin. I'm not even sure why I like that one or why I'm not too fond of hetero pairings with one of the mane 6, honestly.

Nay, Twidash and Rarijack FTW.

Also Rarijack, Flutterdash, and Cheerimac.

As for Pinkie and Applejack, I don't think they dislike each other, it's just that there's so little shared interest there that they don't have as much reason to hang out as the rest of the cast.
