Yeah, season 4 is confirmed. Reaction to alicorn Twi is generally "well, we'll see where this goes, " with a handful of people that really hate the idea but have mostly gotten tired of complaining at this point.

I'm just flabbergasted. The episode was going great and then she turns into an alicorn. I just spaced out there in confusion. I guess we'll have to see where season 4 goes. It's just wow. I havent watched like half of season 3 yet so I still have to watch it. I saw the Discord episode. Was good.

At least here in Equestria, Twilight hasn't done much out of the ordinary (in context with her magic that is). I guess she's being trained on the magic of worldly politics back in Canterlot.

A Jump the Shark moment is the moment where the show takes a downturn in quality, so we can't call it that until we see how S4 compares.

The status quo has definitely changed, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing if they handle it well. Princess Twilight could result in some really interesting potential plots.

As for Daring Do, I think it would be hilarious if the "real" Daring Do is a serious archeologist who doesn't like all the adventury stuff the books added to her.

I guess you didn't know in advance? Then yeah, it probably would seem like it came out of nowhere. There was a lot of buildup for the episode though, so basically everyone that was following the show already knew about her transformation.

I'd like to see that actually. Daring shows up to investigate the ruins in the Everfree forest and Rainbow starts geeking out, but Daring actually has way more in common with Twilight.

We've debated this a lot in here. It's believed that Twilight was destined to become an alicorn right from the very start of the show. She's been marked as something special (magical prodigy, princess Celestia's personal student, element of magic, element differently shaped to the others, like a crown etc), and she was clearly training for something important. Some say it's to be Celestia's successor.

Anyway, we'll just have to wait until season 4 starts before we can make a judgement. Too early to call it just yet.

I think it would also be interesting to have Daring Do get rubbed the wrong way by RD, only to eventually realize that RD wouldn't give a flying feather about history at all if not for the more adventurous bits. Basically RD learns to appreciate archaeology more and Daring Do learns to appreciate the art of storytelling.

Coconut, right? I think the binder on the tail is a good idea. It will make the tail look like a palm tree. He's supposed to look like a walking, talking tree, right?

I still think his full name should be Coconut Palm.

@Pannic: Don't even start that.

And really, I doubt they'd turn her into a Mary Sue. If anything it's just an excuse to do something new with the cast. Twilight's probably going to run into all sorts of issues.

He is yeah. But like I said, I'm worried that it might all be a bit too much. As outlandish as the ponies manes and tails can get, they at least still vaguely resemble real hair styles. This palm tree look doesn't share that effect I don't think.

And I think Mary Sue is definitely the wrong term.
