I kinda see RD as either lesbian or Bi, and honestly I don't know why either. And that was before I became a shipper. Nowadays I like to think of her as either one of those sexualitys, since otherwise none of my RD pairings would work out at all.

Since its a kids show we can probably assume they are canonically asexual save for maybe Rarity.

Now Fanon wise... I think they could go either way as long as a compelling argument is made in a story. If you say Rarity X Rainbow Dash ... CUZ! Then Im not going to buy it. If you write a heartbreaking story of staggering genius about how they ended up together... then I can dig it.

You mean kinda like what JT is doing with his fanfic {Minus the Heartbreaking part}? Cause that's probably what I would do with a pairing if A: I had writing talent, B: A good way to start the romance off and have it develop over time, and C: Could actually think of any sort of logical plot progression whatsoever.

Re: RD: I don't really have any set sexualities for any of the cast aside for Rarity being attracted to stallions. Outside of that, they all change depending on what I find amusing. Which usually ends up being lesbian due to the lack of male characters.

I have only read maybe the first part of JT's story but I liked where it was going. And yeah it doesn't need to be heartbreaking (I was just stealing the title of a novel to be silly).

I guess I can just say I like well written shipping stories that actually explore how the two got together and how they interact.

I kinda like that theory. Could explain why we see BG ponies paired up with different partners from time to time(even though the art directors just say its cuz their colors look good together)

Not equating ponies with swingers now... just saying that I think Caramel has been seen paired with Stallions and mares

I will say that I generally view the ponies as being drawn to each other romantically more through emotional connection rather than physical attraction. I don't know if I'd go so far as to say that they're pansexual, but I do agree that they probably don't have nearly as many hangups about homosexuality. Like it might not be as common as heterosexuality, but it wouldn't really raise eyebrows either.

I wore my hair cut short and ran around and played in the dirt... would go out in the woods and play in the creek looking for crawdads and salamanders til dark....

@storyyeller: It's less the shippers that bug me (because shippers tend to focus on romantic/sexual moments, so far as I know) and more the idea that Rainbow Dash is the designated lesbian of the group because of stereotypes (although I don't mind the idea of her being a lesbian in itself).

I think it's more that stupid Ms. article because of who wrote it, and the fact that the writer was preaching against homophobia while stereotyping lesbians herself.
