Look at my latest drawing efforts◊, as I try to learn the tricky art of shading!

Batty hasn't got a tail or CM because I can't come up with a good design for them yet. But, what about everything that's done so far?

Looking good! Colouring is pretty solid.

The main area of improvement is to make the head more "3D" since currently it looks a little flat :V

I've always thought it should be Nurse Joy. I mean seriously, it's the exact same color scheme!

I hope that's just chocolate...

Looks good to me. You're getting much better. As far as tips, I think the front hair looks a little too bright.

@Apple: Not bad!

Just one thing, though: the direction of your light source. His wings are shaded as if the source was above and a bit behind him, but everywhere else is shaded as though the light source were in front of him instead.

Decide which direction the light is coming from, and keep it in mind when deciding which parts are brighter or more shadowy.

IT looks good, but the shading is inconsistent, making it a bit hard to tell where the light source is. When doing shading it's best to keep in mind a specific source(Or multiple sources depending on the complexity of the shot), possibly even physically drawing the source. Places closest to that will have highlights, and places furthest away will be shaded. Intensity of light, and the angle, will vary the depth and size of the shadows, etc. As you have it now it looks like most of the light is from the front, but his wings are highlighted closer to the back... unless in the intention was the light was slightly behind him so the 'forward' edges of his wings were caught in the shadows of his neck...

Well, the dragon thing wasn't exactly her choice - she was 'given' a dragon OC in honour of "Writing the first good Spike Episode", was I believe the reason.

So, you know... write a good Gilda episode, and we'll see!
