Ahoy hoy!

@ Apple's comic: The first two panels of the Captain dude looked pretty good, though his face seemed to...I dunno...smoosh? in the last two. It just kind of took on a different shape. I did chuckle at the "permission to wobble lip" gag XD Batty's face is kind of inconsistently shaped, but other than that it looks pretty good Apple, you're definitely improving You should probably consider making the panels bigger, though...it was kind of hard to read some of the text at the beginning.

Thank you librarian. You raise a good point.

Does anyone have any advice on how to keep character shapes consistant between panels?

I too have an issue with being consistent between panels when I try to draw comics. It's a matter of practice, I think, or making a dimension chart for characters.

And I need a better way to arrange panels. And do the text. So much to do...

I mean draw out the sizes and heights of your characters relative to each other, and then look at that whenever you draw. I don't really know.

One of the comments on that image had a pretty good (if not unprecedented) theory of how the production of season 3 may have played out.

Basically, the team probably wrote this season to be the last (65 and all that), and then they got renewed, so they had to scramble to bring in new writers and stuff.

One hopes they still have stories left in them.

I would bet money that's what happened.

And I really hope that they do. You know what? I don't care what anyone says, the toys have been good for the show! We've had the Friendship Express, the Royal Couple, the Cystal ponies and now Princess Twilight, which I think will prove to be a good thing.

So new toys = new stories. We could have a Wonderbolt airfield, sea ponies, Manhatten playset. Tonnes of stuff really.

Yeah, it was pretty obvious Magical Mystery Cure was supposed to be grand finale to the whole show. What with the frankly erotic amount of continuity.

Only Word Of God in time will tell.

And we talk of a possible decline in quality...but think about it...this show is so good imo, even a small slip in quality would only bring it down to above average levels. If we can tolerate all the crap on tv these days, we can tolerate slightly worse ponies right?

And this is the hubs flagship show. It's bound to get a lot more attention.

It's a valid point though right?

And who was it who said that they would rather the show continue at a reduced quality to see the occassional great story, than see the show canceled and those stories never realised?

I mean, that's a fair point, I suppose (that if you cancel, you'll never get the great stories), but it's not like mediocre or, dare I say it, outright bad episodes wouldn't get made too. If a hypothetical blah season is a line hovering right above average and you want to hold out for the surprising spikes upwards, you have to be prepared for ditches as well as new writers find their footing. And moreover, with a slowly downward-trending line of quality, how long until the line is low enough that one great episode isn't enough to stand against the mediocrity?
