Just watched the episode. It felt like a series ending. It felt like Twilight was dreaming all that.

I think I won't watch this anymore. Just like I did when Spider-Man married MJ. I felt like an ending to me. Maybe one episode or another (I did read some spidey issues after that on occasion) and then I'll stop.

Or wait for when Peter David writes My Little Pony 2099.

[up][up][up]As mentioned a couple of numbers, mostly the ones involving the cast's changed cutie marks helped the story progress well. Others like Twilight's BSOD and the endless seeming numbers of her being transformed and coronated I feel made it too narmy and slowed things to a halt.

I wouldn't necessarily say that she died. We really have no idea WTF was going on there. Celestia was in the same place, and she's alive.

Just like we don't know if Harry Potter actually died or not.

Actually the Twilight ascension bit made me think of Men In Black instead of Star Wars. Specifically. "I haven't been looking for a partner. I've been looking for a replacement." Does anyone think maybe Celestia is hoping Twilight will take over for her in some capacity?

Is there any chance that Alicorn Twilight isn't a permanent thing? I'm not speaking up against it, it's just a little weird. I can't think of any other show where the main character changes their race partway through.

This made me realize something.

In the first issue of the comic, we never actually see Derpy get released from the pod. The first issue was released around the same time as Season 3 started.

She was captured by Changelings this whole time, then broke herself free somehow and cameo'd 5 or 6 times to make sure we know she's alright [lol]

The Doctor Manhattan jokes are gonna be coming sooner or later, so we may as well start now.

The Avatar State could also work.

Just got back from Katsucon. Watched the episode. Was pleasantly surpised. Everything went better than expected.
Troper. That is my title. The character limit ran out.

Apparently it takes three ponies to play one drum. Their drumline must be twice as large as the rest of the band!

Yep, you're good.

And finally, have a sneak peek of the next season's opening theme![lol]
Oh, no! They've all transformed into giant, Swedish, lederhosen-clad yodelers! Run!

I consider it more "Twilight Sparkle has evolved...into PRINCESS TWILIGHT".

"Everything is certinaly fine" Twi, why you tempt fate like that?

The other question is how everything got so shiny when it wasn't before.

Don't you mean she evolved... into Twilight Princess?

I will have my puns!

Also, two of the drummer ponies don't have cutie marks. This would suggest it takes no special talent to play the drums. As a former drummer, it amuses me greatly.

They wasted an episode with Spike and the critters and compressed two in one with this finals... :(

Honestly, if I had to give up one of those two episodes, I'd give up Games Ponies Play. On the other hand, a two-parter wouldn't be able to be a Musical Episode, so I'm leaning towards preferring what we got.

They could kick off 'games' also, and make it a 3-parter. The musical could be the cutie marks swap. Twily could spent the middle episode defating some changeling invasion, when she would reaffirming her talents of leadership and stuff, and asking for Discord's help, and THEN be coronated princess in the third one.

Ha, this series takes it sweet time compared to the original plan for Hasbro to cut them down into 11 minute episodes. Imagine how cliched the episodes would be. Coming up with 40 stories for season 1 alone would have been taxing enough on the writer's creativity. There would have been good episodes, but it would be compressed so much that it would be difficult to make anything meaningful.

And G1 was even worse. Most episodes were 9 minutes and only had about 36 minutes for the longer serials. And the first special feels like a compressed movie. Things could have been much worse is all.

In my opinion, the musical gave the episode a cinematic feel. For me it increased the energy and drama of the episode and gave me the impression of being at the last act of a broadway musical, or the final area of an opera.

It may probably be the first instance ever in fiction of an invoked Spit Take.

Not so.

Very much not so. Fairly OddParents did it years ago (i think the episode where Timmy wished for an end to noise).

So, what was everyone's favorite song of the episode?
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.

I watched the last quarter of it again. Did Twi's horn get longer?

She definitely got a little lankier overall.

God, I cannot chose just yet.

Hard to say. I'll need another look at the episode before I can decide.

"True, True Friend". Yeah yeah, its the biggest one, but I think it really exemplifies what the show is all about.... FRIENDSHIP!

Its a wonderful thing.

"True, True Friend." It's still in my head.
