Flintstones kids was more of a Muppet Babies type thing, they were younger versions of the adult characters.

Im talking about aging up characters, not aging down.

And...is new IP necessarily a new show?

Not gonna lie I really hope they don't go the "high school" route. Mainly because one of the great things about the current show is the accessibility of the cast. You can be a student, adult, have a career or whatever and still relate to them. Putting them in high school greatly reduces the scope of problems they could come up against. That "high school drama" is kind of a cliche at this point.

It is by necessity a new trademark.

[up] That, and the characters they're currently using to relate to their audience are primarily self-sufficient adults. They don't need to shoehorn it into a high school to relate to people, and they've spent three years now proving it.

I'm with JTeeth. I probably wouldn't watch a 'high school' show.
Won't be online for a while due to the holidays. Stay safe, happy and warm!

And...is new IP necessarily a new show?

The shows are, like, de luxe commercials for the toys. Their main tool to sell the new toys.

I'd watch it, because after the initial show I have to give pretty much anything a chance, but it would have be really well made for me to enjoy it like I enjoy the current show.

I...I just...... all this news, the rumors..

it's geting to be to much. And, really, I DON"T care about all of it for it's own sake I'm just. This fandom, all of you, it's, it's being here has been the single greatest ting to ever happen to me. Not the show, though it is amazing, but all of you, and the others I've met through this fandom. being able to open up, to talk, to to, to actually..for the first time in my life.. feel like I am a PART of a group.

And now, all this, the fear of it ending, of something I just I, I.. i'm just terrified of losing this....

I love you guys/girls, all of you.

Having a Time Skip series running alongside the main show would be kinda...odd, I think, especially if the CMC are featured in the Time Skip. One minute you're watching an episode of My Little Pony where the Crusaders have failed yet again to get their cutie marks, and the next you're watching an episode of the other My Little Pony where the Crusaders have their cutie marks, taller, and have boy problems.

Its interesting they only mentioned a TV Movie. Maybe they're not planning a spin-off show at all, just a TV movie to promote whatever this new IP is. If the TV movie was a pilot for a new show, wouldn't they say that? Or do they want to wait and see if people actually like the movie and then make the decision to do a series?

...And where the hell is that Toys R Us announcement? Its 9pm where I am!

Its not about what you want to watch though.

Its what Teen girls want to watch.

And honestly I cant think of anything teen girls think about other than High School Drama and Boy bands.

Its likely going to be one of those avenues If I had to guess.

I'd give it a shot, but I wouldn't be very excited going in. I didn't even like high school shows when I was in high school, let alone now.

Well okay, I liked Danny Phantom. But that was it.

You can never lose this fandom unless you push it away.

Anyways, as long as they keep the quality and love that G4 has EQ Girls will succeed.

@Seraphem I share your feelings of "this" ending. But everything ends. Soon or later they'll make some decision that'll ruin the show, or something, or we'll get tired of the ponies, or whatever.

Im kinda on the edge of being a fan right now.

Ive already decided not to give Hasbro another dime by buying toys.

I have faith in the current crew to finish off this series in a good way..

But I have little faith in whatever new IP Hasbro has...

Yeah, just reaching the end of it's life due to time, I could be okay with that, but actively hunting it down and killing it, twisting it, forcing an end early....

Yes I know, I'm overreacting, it's just, I wasn't using hyperbole when saying this is the first time I've ever truly felt like a PART of a group.

The group doesn't need to end. Part of your new friend can team up to watch another things, or produce content on play online together. Or several of those things at the same time.

Yeah I'm sorry, but while I trust FIM's writers to make a good show, I trust Hasbro about as far as I can throw them into a hurricane headwind. I mean, on the plus side my expectations are low enough to please easily, but...yeah.

Best case scenario for a spin-off, IMO, is for it to be Star Trek: Deep Space Nine to FiM's Star Trek: The Next Generation. Different characters, setting, and tone, but the same continuity to allow for crossovers and references.
