Inflammable fur.
It is in the nature of the spiteful to spread animosity.

Ah finally got back into reading Lunaverse, excellent. Read Symphony for Moon and Sun and ... Wow there's a lot more Lunaverse fics now. Eh I have like 650 things to read what's fortyish more?

I still say that pegasus magic alters the density of the air, making them (and whatever else the happen to be carrying, in the case of wagons and the like) buoyant. Cloud interaction works the same way, making the water vapor dense enough to stand on.

@Badwolf: yeah, there's a lot now. And Sympony for Moon and Sun is my favourite. It justifies the entire verse by itself! What did you think of it?

EDIT:[up]That might work.

That makes sense. Could be how Dash manages to get enough speed for a sonic rainboom, too - drastically reduce the density of the air in her path to the point where she experiences almost no wind resistance, then increase the density of the air behind her to shove her along. Clever trick.

Does that mean they could theoretically turn air into a solid wall?

Moonspire Run, the first ponyfic I ever read and still one of my favorites, threw out the idea that pegasus flight just braces on water vapor in the air, exactly like cloudwalking does.

It also lent itself to a really creative obstacle — a magic salt flat that sucks moisture out of everything in the area. Not only was it ugly Last Crusade style death if you fell in it, but was also impossible to fly over because pegasi are too heavy to fly on dry air. You had to cross it by using the previous obstacle as a ballistic slingshot.

I don't see any reason why Celestia would have been different back then.
Life is simple: it has no nontrivial normal subgroups.

@ Sereg: I enjoyed it but not sure if I'd call it my favourite. Was definitely good though.

When kindness fails, hit 'em with a rocket launcher. Steve would approve.

Pegasi armed with rocket launchers. So many possibilities...

Walk softly and carry a big stick. Or in this case a rawckit lawnchair.

@Badwolf: Yeah. I suppose that it partially catered to my taste for self-loathing characters and stuations from which there seems to be no escape, but the character finds one anyway. There's a reason that madoka is my favourite piece of fiction.

And King Sombra is best villain.
Because he know I'm going to go out in this plane and I'm going to remove one of His creations from His universe.

Well the guy's not exactly a hero now (yet, anyway). He's just not actively earfucking reality at the moment.

I don't think I'm ready to call Discord a hero just yet.

Come on, Syd! Don't you see how he is heroically not screwing up everything for everyone? It takes a lot of inner goodness to be as big a not douche as he is currently being.

So, he's being a paragon of virtue simply by not turning reality inside-out?tongue

When you can do it with a flick of your finger, you kinda require a lot of virtue to avoid it. Just look at the average sandbox game player.

I hope the next time we see him he's still annoying the hell out of everyone, but its more lighthearted pranking so they can't justify turning him to stone.

I get the feeling Celestia's "use for his magic" might specifically be to mess with stuffy aristocrats. Which sounds petty, but when they're that stuffy it's causing legitimate problems in pretty much that entire stratum of society, gumming up authority, screwing with the market, stagnating culture, and generally being a nuisance to the entirety of Equestria.

These are ponies that it might actually be a good idea to treat to a rogue gravy boat.

Oh god, now I want an entire episode that is nothing but Discord following Blueblood around and messing with him.
