I suppose it was inevitable that they split the Mane Six into six different actors — it's hard enough to find anyone other than Ashleigh who can play both AJ and Dash convincingly, but imagine how hard that would be in Japanese.

But am I reading this right? The Mane Six are going to be the Milky Holmes quartet plus two?

If your fanon leads to unfortunate implications that could not possibly be canon truth in the context of the show, your fanon is wrong.

I Google translated the two web pages, and it appears that Japan is at least pointing out that older people enjoy this show too, if not outright marketing it at them.

Well, let's take a look here, shall we?

Pinkie - MIMORI Suzuko

Applejack - TOKUI Sora

Rarity - SASAKI Mikoi

Dashie - KITTA Izumi

Admittedly I've only ever heard Mimori Suzuko in action, and it wasn't a role (Kamisama Hajimemashita) that could be expected to give a good feeling of what her Pinkie performance is going to be like. The other three are either newbies or otherwise inexperienced; their lists are short as hell.

But yes, all four of them have starring roles in Tantei Opera Milky Holmes.

Anyway, I'm much more excited to see how they translate their speech patterns and such!

^Myanimelist rule of thumb - if you can fit their works page on a single screen, they're not Names To Know. =) We'll see, though. Just because someone's relatively new doesn't mean they're bad at their job.

Speaking of Ogatamon, I really, really hope they give Applejack an Osakan accent. And the Princesses had better bloody use Kyoto-ben.

Well, I wouldn't have expected really big names (unless they're holding off the Twilight and Fluttershy reveals for that reason), but... I dunno. I don't know where these actresses fall on the whole A/B/C-list scheme of things; their lack of roles may be due to so-so reception for the roles they've done or they may be new (Sasaki in particular has only been active for two years, since the first season of Milky Holmes). I'll be looking forward to voice previews.
