This episode reminds me of Powerpuff Girls. In that there was an episode about a new hero stealing all of the girl's thunder. Major Man! Maybe this hero will get a song like his too!

The thought just occurred to me; how do the characters in MLP view zombie ponies? I mean, what is the cultural meaning behind the zombie pony? For the sake of the discussion, I will assume that zombie ponies are the same as our zombie (infection via biting, are cannibals, undead, and lack any sense of a mind). With that in mind, would zombie ponies be seen as more fearsome than our zombies? I ask this since we are omnivores and cannibalism, while greatly frowned upon, is not unheard of. Ponies, being herbivores, may know what cannibalism is, they probably don't consider the idea of their own species committing to such an act.

What are your thoughts?

^^^Spike, at least, is terrified of them, but Noi knows what they are and considers them non-scary enough to want to dress up as one for Nightmare Night. (If we get another Nightmare Night episode at some point and Noi is dressed as a zombie, super continuity points to Studio B, by the way.)

I get the feeling that this is not going to be a Fake Ultimate Hero situation. In fact I'm expecting RD to take a level in jerkass for the episode by sabotaging his or her heroics, or something equally spiteful. I have no real support for this theory, I get the feeling that that is the direction that this is going to go in.

but where would our sympathy for her come from? There generally has to be a reason for us to care. The writers aren't STUPID.

There'll probably be ELEMENTS of that as RD gets more and more depressed, but I'm still sticking with the Fake Ultimate Hero thing for now

If the hero is masked, it is probably someone we know. So Fake Ultimate Hero unlikely.

complete but, it'll be Scootaloo trying to impress RD not realizing it's annoying her instead.

but who? No one we know has the necessary skills to pull off being a hero, and even if they did there's no motive for them to be masked while doing it.

There's no reason it CAN'T be a Fake Ultimate Hero. There are plenty of shows where the hero's masks are never taken off

^That might actually be true, yeah. Like I said about "May The Best Pet Win", we need a Scoots episode, especially right on the heels of episodes about Sweetie and Applebloom.

I guess I'm basing this mostly on the idea that RD is going to get aesop about how she shouldn't let her pride/ego effect how she perceives others (or something along those lines). That aesop wouldn't work if the other pony turned out to be a Fake Ultimate Hero but that's just me speculating, and I kind of hope that I'm wrong.

Yeah it sounds like it would be better if the other pony was genuinely good, and RD gets called out for acting like a Jerkass.
