The whole time Fluttershy was using The Stare, I was thinking, "Don't work. Please don't work."

That reminds me. I thought Fluttershy couldn't control the stare.

Maybe she took a feat to make it an at-will power? (Or a daily, at least.)

I suppose she's getting better with it. I imagine the intensity is still kinda difficult though; it didn't seem like that was a particularly powerful stare, if even one at all. No screen effects or anything. She still probably needs a good trigger for a real solid stare.

I'm sure she can whip it out whenever she wants, but how well it works fluctuates like crazy.

She needs to really lose her cool to Stare properly.

Hi everyone, what'd I miss?

Discord should have put a few lives in immediate danger, I guess.

I've got a scenario to put you all.

One of my crew gets into a fight with RD. they get the upper hand on her and are about the pummel her silly, when in comes Fluttershy in full on Dragonshy mode. After the verbal scolding and the stare, said crew mate backs down, and them and RD make peace sort of. Unfortunately, said crew mate loses a lot of credibility in the eyes of most of his friends, who mock him relentlessly. And this naturally makes him resentful of Fluttershy, and he lets her know this.

How might flutters respond? I'm not necessarily doing this story. I just think it's an interesting idea to explore.

She proceeds to scold his crew for being mean to their friend, causing all of them to back down?

@Apple: She might just tell him not to pick on her friends next time.

Fluttershy has been able to control The Stare since Putting your Hoof Down. It was a benefit of her assertiveness training.

And, Discord has his own mind affecting gaze attack. We know from Stare Master that gaze attacks are not foolproof against those with their own.

EDIT: Fluttershy would appologise for ruining his reputation, but ask that he not fight her friends.

Fluttershy just had a better Fort save than the Cockatrice had a Will save.

Discord has a Will save bonus of apple-centauri-delta.

It's not his fault everyone else insists on making gimped builds.

@ Apple: It depends on if Fluttershy is still in full-on "Dragonshy" mode, or if she's calmed down. If the former, she'd probably say, "Well, don't hurt my friends, then." The latter is tougher. She might blush at the effect of her assertiveness. Beyond that, I'm not sure.

@Keg: I forget, does that refer to craptastic builds or uber-optimized ones?

Maybe Discord is immune to mind effecting effects? Though as a deity, he autopasses his saves anyway.
