Would normal ponies know about Nocturnuses like Aerobat, however vaguely...or would they be a complete suprise to them?

Twilight would probably have read about them, but normal ponies? no way. At most a pony or two might remember the dudes pulling Luna chariot during Nightmare night.

Like I said, I count any fan fic as an AU. And really i don't think any story should be faulted for not including anything that wasn't know at the time. Long as it stays consistent with all available info at the time it was written, all that you can ask.

The problem is that the instalment where it realy becomes an issue hasn't been written yet. Then again, if certain rumours are true, it will joss even the first story into oblivion.

And again, a story can't be faulted for not being prescient, long as it's internaly consistant with itself, all that REALLY matters.

But then again given just how many things from FOE ended up getting made at least possibly canon later.

again, don't worry about it, just keep it internally consistent, and you're good.

Or like I said, all fanfics are AU by default, and long as you stay internally consistent, all that matters. Writers can't be vaulted for not incorporating information unavailable to them at the time into their works

@Seraphem: Sereg's problem is that it's screwing up his plans for something he hasn't written yet. But yeah, it's nothing an AU couldn't fix. Even though I tend to prefer stuff that isn't obviously different.

@Seraph Your own personal views on what's important to include from canon are not necessarily Sereg's. If he feels that the has a chance to incorporate possible upcoming canon, then he doesn't need you repeatedly telling him to ignore it and move on.

Well, just wait and see what the episode does, and if there's any elements in there you can add to your story without messing stuff up, use it. Otherwise, just stick to your original intention.

Okay, so the ponies have gone up against dragons, Changelings, and Discord. But Timberwolves are...different. Sure, they may be fragile, but those things can pull themselves back together and don't seem to have a reason to eat anything.

Also, just because I've gone up against a dragon and won doesn't mean I'd want to do it again of my own volition. Someone might lose an eye next time.

I can't do this all on my own.
