I just realized...since Applejack was the one to notice the Twinkling Balloon, offscreen she may very well have said "It's Twilight Sparkle's balloon!"

Production episode 10, airing episode 9. We've got four episodes left this season, then there's the 66-minute special.

Fun cute detail: Fluttershy is seen walking Winona in the cold open. It harkens back to her helping with Opal in Stare Master.

@Steve: Yes, I'm a female fan of the show. And no, I don't mind the discussion of "what would their breast sizes be as humans?" thing.

@the episode: I thought it was pretty funny, although I found it odd that Applejack actually was able to get stuck by a rock, but maybe the position of it twisted her hoof in a way that she couldn't get any leverage to pull herself out or something. Spike's clumsiness and eagerness to help reminds me of a character in my Harry Potter fanfics, and I liked the "inflated Applejack" thing too.

Upon thinking about Fluttershy's clopping sounds, at first I wondered "Why would a pony need to put mugs on her hooves to make horse sounds?" and then I realized that she had WOODEN mugs on her hooves so she was using them to make the sound of something with wooden feet!

We don't know the exact context of this special or how it's distributed. All we know is that it exists.

Loving the aviators too. I think there was another such pony flying the airship in the previous episode.

Also, yeah. This solves the Balloon Mystery. It's probably rented by the hour or something when it's not being used for free rides.

I think I'd easily place this as my least favorite of the season so far. It was just kind of bland, and nothing really stands out except the scene in Rarity's house. *

I guess I just can't like most Spike episodes.

Also hey, I'm back after a while. Loving the episodes in the season so far, save for this and TMPP, which were just average.

I've come to the conclusion that, while Pinkie is favored by the Rule of Funny and uses it in her favor, Spike has been cursed by it.

Twi and Spike suffer when the Rule of Funny comes a-knockin'.

I dunno, I liked this week's episode more than the previous one. Probably because, much as I like AJ as a character, she has trouble carrying an entire episode IMO (with the exception of Applebuck Season).

@Enlong: Cherry Berry works part time as a comedian to raise money for maintenance.

I definitely enjoyed this episode more than last week's. It felt like the conflict developed more naturally from the characters' interactions. It's far from perfect, but as far as how much I enjoyed it, I think it's in the top half of the season.

When someone asks a question like which season of a show is better, you can bet that there will be a lot of Your Mileage May Vary in the answers. For me, I found myself watching a number of episodes from seasons 2 and 3 of this show several times. What I am certain of is that season 1 was aimed for the target demographic - not that it stopped other demographics from getting in on it - while season 2 was aimed for multiple demographics. Season 3 might be an attempt to balance out what seen in the previous seasons.

Oh, and get this: "Spike At Your Service" was written by Merriwether Williams and the story was by Dave Polsky. I don't know about you, but those two seem to make quite the team together!

As for the special, its listing◊ was titled "My Little Pony DVD" so it'll presumably be distributed at least on DVD.

We never did get to hear the end of her "donkey and mule stuck on a desert island" joke...

Well that was disappointingly average, I guess "Wonderbolts" was just a fluke and Williams really is a bad writer. Way to ruin a good Polsky story.

I mean it did get better in the second half when they tried to wean Spike off "The Code". And Rainbow Dash was pretty good in her bit part, but everything else was just so boring or kinda "been there done that".

It was as dull-paced as "One Bad Apple" which was the last episode so average.

Another C episode, ...how sad, especially since there was so much that could've gone to AJ, ...but she was just so static this time.

But it's better than her last attempt at writing a Spike episode, but even so it was probably only because Polsky wrote the blueprint.

I don't think racist jokes are allowed there. And if Cherry's last joke was any indication, it was going there.

Surely she has other material :V
