Why, is it 4 o'clock in the morning?

Lunar cycles are caused by the difference between the length of a day and the the amount of time for the moon to orbit Earth. But in Equestria, those times are identical, so they have no phases of the moon and no lunar cycle (which actually makes it surprising that they even have a concept of a month or a week, but the show is full of stuff like that, so yeah).
I could argue that Luna could easily change the phases of the moon each night...

Except every time we see the moon in the show, the damn thing looks exactly the same. So you may have a bit of a point there.

@Sereg: I could swear that there have been references to 'full moons' before, and if Luna wanted to make moon phases, she probably could. *shrug*

^No, it's 10:30PM here, but I'm still analyzing the ages of ponies using vague clues. XD Actually, that also fits in with Applejack having gotten her cutie mark when she was younger than Applebloom, but that gives some problems with Applebloom's age when Applejack left Sweet Apple Acres.

[up][up] I'm sure they'd be happy to share the title. tongue

[up] In your case, probably not... at least not with RD. [lol]

But Applejack still gets it all to herself in my ranking, though.

Hey, Applebloom's old enough to applebuck now! Not that she got any apples, but she tried.

...is it just me, or are they reusing assets more than usual this season?

For me it's a tie between AJ and Twi.

@Kyler: Because you're apparantly on the opposite side of the planet to me. (3:25 pm here)

@Red: Babies can talk way younger than that. One would be a closer estimation.

Also, we can't be sure how many reunions ago that was. So, Applejack is X8 + 1 where X is an integer larger than 1. 17 seems too young to me. 25 seems likely to me. Applebloom seemed fairly old already at the last reuniun, so I'm guessing that she's at least 12. Dobt that she's older than 14 though.

Nobody picked up on the Rugrats reference? I am disappoint.

@Sereg: Hm... that's a fair point, I guess, but a one-year-old baby can't answer questions about who she is. 25 seems a bit old to me, but assuming that Applejack is X8 + 3 or something gives us what I consider a more reasonable spread of ages, though that does put the girls rather young at the beginning of the series (even assuming Applejack is the youngest of them all).

@Red: Once you have a good library of preexisting animation, it would be worth your while to use it. I didn't notice any cloning in 'Apple Family Reunion' though. In nearly every scene, no two Apple Family members are alike.

The moon is alwaysfull in the show, which is exactly what it would be if it worked the way it does in the show, so well done for doing the research!

Anyway I used to have the described probem wth Twilight and Fluttershy. Then Twilight started becoming more awesome in every episode (with the exception of Too Many Pinkie Pies), so while Fluttershy is easily second, Twilight is still best pony.

@Sereg: No need to get snippy; there aren't that many episodes set at night, so I don't know what research you wanted me to do.

@Red: Whoah! I wasn't getting snippy! I was complimenting the creators!

As for AJ, I've always seen her as the oldest (I can go into detail as to why if you want). So 25 doesn't seem like too old to me.

Oh, I see! Sorry, I misread your post there. Yeah, my bad.

Hm... I don't know as she is the oldest, though. Aside from Fluttershy, all six of the girls look pretty much the same in terms of development in 'The Cutie Mark Chronicles'; Fluttershy, meanwhile, is taller and ganglier than Dash by a fair bit, implying she's either older or an early bloomer (or both). We know that Fluttershy's a year older than Pinkie, and we also know that Applejack was the last pony in her class to get her cutie mark and that she was younger than the Crusaders when that happened.

Given that evidence, I don't think Applejack's the youngest, certainly; she was old enough that her contemporaries had marks as a matter of course, and none of the other girls made any mention of being particularly early or late bloomers in that regard. (On a related note, cutie marks are apparently treated as a thing that happens with fair predictability around the age of puberty, and if we don't assume that that generally holds up the whole thing falls apart, so.) If anything, I'd guess Pinkie as the youngest and Fluttershy as the oldest, with the rest of the girls falling somewhere within that year's span.

Re: The moon: It has appeared as a crescent at the beginning of Applejack's flashback in "The Cutie Mark Chronicles" and debatably during Sweetie Belle's lullaby in "Stare Master".

Mac thinks he is the sneakiest. Thus sneaking around with Smarty Pants and with the fritter.

Man, Applejack, stop it with the assembly line. Where are those accents from? Sounds... Midwestern, like Missouri perhaps.

Oh, hey, are those the train ponies?

Okay, I love scared of heights pony. Does she have a name?
