The song was really good, IMO. It started out really generic, but it built up to some great heartwarming stuff. Heck, this whole episode was full of great heartwarming moments.

So this person sees a cartoon about country talking ponies.

@ Badwolfwho I liked Babs seed way more than this (and not just because of those half dozen remixes I keep listening to). Barn song just had super bland lyrics and no hook

I think the deal with the song is that it makes a lot more sense if you assume that they're singing in-universe as they work rather than it being there solely for the sake of the montage. It fits the in-universe circumstances really well, after all. They even have ponies actually playing the music.
