YMMV. Pinkie's personality just doesn't appeal to me. I can list WHY she annoys me but you'd be able to logic all of my reasons away. End of story.

So all of the current possible reasons for Luna becoming NM are:

• Jealousy.
• Something similar to the events of "Luna Eclipsed" but without someone like Twilight there to help her.
• Mind Rape by either Discord or some other currently unknown dark force.

It's okay, Ginger, if you dislike Pinkie it's okay. I just can't bring myself to hate her, and I hope you merely dislike her and not hate her.

I fluctuate. Some episodes I like her, some episodes I hate her. Overall it evens out to dislike, I think, rather than outright hate.

Generally, If Pinkie's just being weird, plucky comic relief then I'm fine with her. It's when she actually starts contributing to the plot that I start to get miffed. (I say generally because I liked Party Of One)

I've never hated Pinkie. I just get the feeling that being around her would tire me out rather than make me enjoy myself.

As for Pip, I'm fine with the way they used him. It's just that to me, it would seem like a waste if he wasn't going to become more important later.

@RJ: Really, I think the CMC could have worked; it would have been a good way of involving them in a plot without bringing up the Cutie Marks.

But anyway, my point wasn't that they needed more screentime, it was that the episode spent a scene on introducing Pip, and most of the info we got about him ended up being kinda irrelevant.

I forgot to complain about The Royal We. Did they not realize that it makes a character with a dark alter ego seem like she's suffering from multiple personality disorder, or was that the intent?

I think they might have been intending for us to assume that until it was properly explained. It certainly added to Luna's creep factor during her introduction. Wait, why are you COMPLAINING about that? What's wrong with the royal we?

@ sereh you have an interesting ranking in classifying what omits you like more. But it doesn't surprise me that you rank Rariry so low.

Do you dislike her? Or is she simple less interesting?

Rarity is in the same position on my list. For me it's not that I dislike Rarity (I love Rarity), it's just that I like the other 4 MORE

New DVD: Adventures in Ponyville*

! Looks like that New Jersey bakery's rumor was true!

This DVD includes "Swarm of the Century", "Sonic Rainboom", and "The Cutie Mark Chronicles". Other than being all three Season 1 episodes written by M. A. Larson, the only reason I can see for putting those three episodes together is that "The Cutie Mark Chronicles" references the other two ("Swarm of the Century" is referenced by the music at Pinkie Pie's first party, and "Sonic Rainboom" is referenced by two of the sports pegasi showing up in Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash's flashbacks).

Good news: There are apparently at least 24 minutes' worth of bonus features, as three episodes is only 1 hour, 6 minutes and a few seconds, yet the front cover states that the DVD has "Over 1.5 hours of content!" To the right of this claim is some text (too blurry to read from the photo) which I suspect describes the bonus features.

Bad news: No idea where it can actually be bought.

One last complaint and then I'll stop: don't get people who say canon!Luna > fanon!Luna. The second could be made interact with different characters and situations. The new one is sort of a one trick pony.

I wonder if we'll ever see how Celestia and Luna relate to each other. The fanon interpretation had them share a big sister-young sister relationship. I'm also afraid that nLuna is just wandering around brooding and has no interest in her big sis at all.

Yeah, that one was a classic. You couldn't have it happen it in the show (authority figure making student cry? censored!) but all that emotion made it so muc more meaningful and touching...

I used to dislike Rarity. Then I got ot understand her hbetter and now I do like her, but I've liked the others for longer which gave them a head start. At first I disliked her due to percieving her as snobbish, critical and shallow, but now I see that that isn't really true.

If you say that canon!Luna is a one trick pony, you didn't understand the complex layers of her personality that came to light.

Canon!Luna actually seems like the type who'd become evil, rather than the brooding, meek, emo that the fanon liked to portray her as. She's strong, arrogant, and entitled, but she's also Adorkable and awkward. She was many things. ONE TRICK PONY is not a term I would use

It seems to me like she is merely playing along with her ingrained notion of how royalty is supposed to be like, but what she'd rather have have friends and ponies who'd love her for who she really was under the crown.

Exactly!

Luna wants attention. She likes personal, friendly attention more, but still enjoys respectful admiration as well.

My rewaction to Luna:

Yeah... there's no way Luna is a one-dimensional character. Background ponies aside (and from a Watsonian perspective, Bonbon gets a bunch of instant character development every time she gets a speaking line), I don't think there are any one-dimensional characters on this show. Even the antagonists have some depth to them.

Anyway, canon!Luna has tons of potential. She's flawed, yes, but she's still a good person at heart - and that means layers, and that means potential.

I don't think that Canon!Luna is any more of a one trick pony than Fanon!Luna. There are definitely a few layers of interaction with other characters and there are plenty of sides to her personality. There's a lot of internal conflict there: her intimidating nature vs her desire to be liked, her sense of tradition vs her desire to have fun, her royal status vs her desire to blend in, etc.

Are we STILL having this Canon!Luna Vs. Fanon!Luna BS? Jesus fuck.

Both of them have their merits. Both of them have their flaws and strengths. Now can we PLEASE move on to something else?!

After seeing the full character list on the wiki, I know i shouldn't be shocked by this as a member of Tvtropes, but I still am seeing how the fans have managed to tack down and even name name every last character in the show, regardless of screen time or plot importance, down to the background characters. O_o

Fandom at their finest people.
