She still wouldn't be a good sister as in all the time, growing up, living with, yeah she'd still be a bad sis. But she would and probably will be a good mentor and "big sis" type, that doesn't have to live with and deal with all the negative relationship parts.

Rarity's an awful sister, and Applejack, while kind and caring towards her sister is also ridiculously oblivious about her life.

Rainbow Dash would fit right in.

Rarity isn't that bad lol, she's been improving since Sisterhooves. AJ just didn't know about DT most of the time because she has a fulltime farm to run :V

Hey, now to be fair, it's not really a siblings job to care for their sibling. I mean, they should be nice and get along, and it's good to support each other where necessary, but it's not like they should be the primary source of support. I can forgive Rarity kinda dicking around with Sweetie from time to time, and Granny Smith is the Apple Matriarch on-screen anyhow, so she's really the one who should be more presently concerned with the bullying situation. Not to mention that when it comes down to it, AB's family is doing the only completely effective thing they ultimately can about bullying, which is giving her a supportive home life.

RD's being a bad sister is less to do with not being caring or nurturing, so much as not being supportive and friendly. Rarity still supported Sweetie's hobbies, even if she didn't want to go. Sure she fucked around with her a bit, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

It wouldn't be like Rarity not to take at least drop a playful punishment on her sister for being too good at social manipulation (ie Guilt-tripping)

They are both masters of social manipulation.

Again, though, if you watch, Sweetie Belle has this ridiculously adorable grin on her face as she pulls the wagon. She obviously doesn't mind, and it's not like Rarity's forcing her to do it.

My favorite is still Pumpkin telling "The Day of All the Blood" in Slice of Life. For an OC Stand-in in a comic that's been going on for like 15 pages, it's pretty amazing to see her developed so well that I could read that line and think it fit her so perfectly.

Also, I'm a bit more than halfway through Background Pony. It already had me by the heart, but the Granite Shuffle chapter hit me pretty damn hard given recent events in my life.

I think all three 'sisterly' bonds are dysfunctional in their own way (four if you count Twilight and Spike). Rarity's is arguably the most vitriolic, but in a rather natural Sibling Rivalry sort of way and in that manner they can almost relate to each other easier. AJ's is a lot warmer and close enough it's more of a Parental Substitute, however perhaps because of this she has developed an occasional overprotective side (eg. she becomes a Knight Templar Sister in Bridle Gossip and her and Big Mac arguably took the idea of AB betraying them the harshest in Ponyville Confidential). Rainbow's would likely be dysfunctional full time since at heart, she is rather self absorbed and not the most perceptive of someone around her in trouble. She often knows how to handle things when handed to her however and is at the very least a good friend. Twilight's is arguably all of the above to a lighter degree, in both a negative and positive sense.

Anyone notice Scootaloo lost her scooter twice over in the episode, neither time in a particularly retreivable manner.
