Well, each season seems to put more effort into developing the p- I can't continue this sentence.

Too much cake.

They have been steadily tweaking Celestia's design for a while now, both to make her look less awkward from the front, and to make her not seem like a twig. In season 1, she was larger than a normal pony, but her haunches weren't really to scale. She was more like a scaled up version of Fleur, whereas now she has slightly more normal proportions.

Clearly she's been sitting on her plot all day watching shitty daytime television.

Such is life. And cake.

So, I was thinking; what is the fundamental difference between Kindness, Generosity, and Laughter?

They aren't all inclusive. Laughter isn't always kind, Generosity usually isn't funny, and Kindness can be passive rather than active like the other two.

Hm... see, for a while now, I'd been thinking of the element of Laughter being something like a desire to spread happiness, rather than literally laughter. And I was having trouble differentiating that from Kindness.

They have a lot in common. Laughter is a desire to lift up the spirits of others. Kindness is a desire to not put others down. And Generosity is a desire to share for the sense of satisfaction that it gives.

Remember that guide book that was announced some time ago? There's a few more details on it, as well as some info on other books being published. Most of the other books are standard children's fare going over stuff we already knew. The last one, though, is... interesting, to say the least:

Yeah, Laughter, Generosity, and Kindness have a lot of in common, but they aren't entirely the same. Laughter is the desire to spread happiness to other ponies, Kindness is a general sense of treating others well in all circumstances, even those that might not be happy, and Generosity has more to do with self-sacrifice and being willing to help meet others' needs. There's definitely overlap, though.

Also, Seaponies? This is gonna be good.

EDIT: @Death Cloud: We don't know enough about them to say that they're distinct from earth ponies in the same way that Pegasi and Unicorns are. It's possible that they're an Earth Pony subrace. It makes more sense to list them there until we get more info.

I mean, that is straight up Expanded Universe world building stuff, regardless of the target demographic involved. I never expected something like that from this show.
