I'm not picturing Equestrian culture to be anti-smoking. I'm thinking it's actually pro-smoking.

So, Rarity might be smoking to fit in to high society just that little bit more. Diamond Tiara keeps pestering Sweetie Belle for her to steal Rarity's cigarettes, but Sweetie Belle is like "Aw hell naw."

AJ? Maybe. Certainly Granny, who'd be like: "DOCTORS DON'T KNOW SHIT."

And Braeburn. He's meant to be a cowboy. Of course he's on 60 a day.

Cheerilee is another pony I picture smoking, just as a coping mechanism for her sometimes-stressful job.

Well AJ is that tough, hard working tomboy outdoorsy type...who probably doesn't actually care too much about her health (so long as she can do farm work). It's not out of the question...if tobacco is used in Equestria...which, judging by some C Ms...it just might be.

This amuses me considering the current antagonist of my fanfic.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that they're pro smoking, but I could definitely see certain characters using tobacco products. (All we've actually seen is a bubble pipe; I doubt Pinkie uses it to actually smoke).

Applejack might chew; she's too much of an athlete for her to mess up her lungs with smoking it. RD is also to athletic, she probably wouldn't smoke. Rarity: She might, with one of those fancy cigarette holders. Twilight: If she goes total stodgy academic, she would have a pipe. Pinkie: If she smokes anything it would be pot, not tobacco. Fluttershy: I can't really see her smoking.

Yet they're actually part of his crown, as shown when it gets blown off in Celestia's flashback.

I could actually see RD smoking if it had a similar "cool factor" that in Equestria as it does here. I'm not sure about AJ, it would depend on if that is a common thing in the Apple Family. I could definitely see Rarity smoking, though not so much Twilight of Fluttershy. And I agree that if Pinkie smoked it probably wouldn't be tobacco.

If one of her friends started smoking, Twilight would rattle off the health risks at them.

I imagine that given their already really weird flora in Equestria, a non-dangerous version of smoking might be possible.

Anyway, personally, I hate smoke.

I absolutely despise smoke, and to top it all off it gives me headaches. Egypt was not a nice place to breath and neither are college campi.
