It's classic Sunk Cost Fallacy.
Life is simple: it has no nontrivial normal subgroups.
Random rambling.
I said this before, but as far as effort goes, I give Sombra a big thumb up.
I have a feeling that if the mane cast tried to use the Elements, he would have either
tried to escape, or even better, fight against the power.
No heroes, no villains, only people.
You know what would have been a better format for the scary door than showing the target their worst fear?
showing the target a reality in which they succeed at defeating Sombra. Then, the would-be infiltrator stays stuck in a happy little trance, believing that they retrieved the Heart and freed the Empire, while Sombra is free to take care of his... guest at his own leisure.
You can kill more flies with honey than with vinegar.
I have a message from another time...
Knowing him, he would put them in a cell with all the walls being painted in troll faces.
And then he'd just leave them there.
The metal of your chains is no match for the metal in my veins.
@Enlong - I like that. Still, Twilight would have acted very out of it - instead this time she would have been jumping around screaming "Yes!" - and Spike would have snapped her out of it anyway.
No heroes, no villains, only people.
I'm going to bed. Goodnight everybody.
@JT - Good night.
And I should too. Good night, folks.
No heroes, no villains, only people.
Regardless of what the illusion actually is, it seems to be complete and unbreakable without outside interference. Given that, Sombra would rather you be trapped forever in a nightmare than your heart's desire.
So far, crystal Octavia is my favorite.
Your mom is a de facto entity!
I'd imagine that Vinyl would take advantage of being crystal by shining lasers through herself, and then constantly changing the colours.
It'd look pretty boss.

Crystal Chrysalis. Discuss.
You can't expect me to be fine.
I don't expect you to care.
What I mean to imply is that she feeds on love, and the Crystal Heart is powered by the collective love of an entire city (I hesitate to call it an "empire"), and if she's close enough to get crystallized...

She'd have a major stomachache.

That's if the Crystal Heart would even let her get near the place.
Or she'd go there and try and nom all the love. The Crystals would just be like: "Sure, but don't hog it all."
And then the changelings would be too fat and overfed to do anything. Then Celestia comes along, leans over to Chrysalis, and whispers in her ear:
"Exactly as planned."

I love how the items of immense power keep turning out to use unity, in some format, as a source of energy. First, we had the Elements, which each represent some facet of harmony between people. Then, Hearth's Warming Eve had that heart of fire that drove away the Windigoes with a desire to come together as friends rather than war with each other. (I like to imagine the Elements were created to have a permanent source of hat energy, harnessed.) Then, the Wedding showed a number of people using the power of love (a more focused and complete unity between two people in particular). And now, we have the Crystal Heart (which focuses and amplifies the love an entire people has for their kingdom).
I just love seeing stuff like that come together.
