MST3K Mantra. That said, I don't think going to a Doylist explanation means that the show broke
Willing Suspension of Disbelief, just that the viewer doesn't really think the matter in question is important enough to bother reasoning out an in-universe explanation for. Like Pinkie's cloning thing; you'd have to jump through a
lot of hoops to explain it in universe, but it doesn't break WSOD (for me at least), because it's such an insubstantial element of the episode. Same with Luna's absence. For most people the fact that Luna didn't appear isn't important enough to bother coming up with an in-story explanation.
Heck, even I don't think it's
necessary, it's just that I enjoy filling in the gaps that the show doesn't feel itself. It's a way of interacting with the show, I guess. Imagining what's going on "behind the scenes", so to speak, makes the setting as a whole seem more real.
