On Cadance parents and where she comes from, that's pure Wild Mass Guessing right now, but she's due to show up in Season 3 premiere so maybe we'll find out about her past there.

Her parents are dead.

Where's that comic when you need it?

Heck, for all we know, her parents could have been there. We don't know what they look like, remember? And it's not like the other set of parents got any lines or plot involvement.

@Kayeka: Yeah, that's more MST3K Mantra. That said, I don't think going to a Doylist explanation means that the show broke Willing Suspension of Disbelief, just that the viewer doesn't really think the matter in question is important enough to bother reasoning out an in-universe explanation for. Like Pinkie's cloning thing; you'd have to jump through a lot of hoops to explain it in universe, but it doesn't break WSOD (for me at least), because it's such an insubstantial element of the episode. Same with Luna's absence. For most people the fact that Luna didn't appear isn't important enough to bother coming up with an in-story explanation.

Heck, even I don't think it's necessary, it's just that I enjoy filling in the gaps that the show doesn't feel itself. It's a way of interacting with the show, I guess. Imagining what's going on "behind the scenes", so to speak, makes the setting as a whole seem more real.

Alicorns don't have parents.

Well they don't just pop out of the ground. Get born when an alicorn dies and needs reincarnating. Uncertain if the reincarnation occurs at conception or birth.

At the end of their lives, Alicorns explode in a burst of psychic energy that causes everyone to retroactively beleive they were always there. Sometimes for thousands of years into the past.

@Sereg - We don't see any elites and since there is no evidence suggesting its existence so it is safe to assume that there is no such thing as elite Changelings (although it would be pretty damn cool if there were). Also, yeah, they broke through stone barriers, and yet it takes one good punch to knock them out. Lastly, strategy? What strategy? I hardly believe random shapeshifting into whoever you are fighting constitutes as a strategy. Even with all the shapeshifting and all, it caused the mane cast minor inconvenience at best.

As Perpetual said, their were larger changelings with armour indicating rank.

Also, you're equating the Mane 6 strength with human strength. Twiight has been shown to physically lift multiple tons and has been shown to be considered a weakling by pony standards. Cheerilee ran through a door like it wasn't there. Big Mac dragged a two story building with foundations. Rainbow Dash vapourised a house. Her sonic rainboom shook a mountain. Getting kicked by a pony clearly does more damage than being stomped by an elephant easily.

I pretty much always go for the Watsonian interpretation. Makes things more interesting.

My view on Cadance is that she is a demi-alicorn and as such had one alicorn parent and one normal ponyparent. Both are dead though.

To be fair Cheerilee and Big Mac's feats were done under the effects of love. Which as A Canterlot Wedding showed makes magic more powerful.

That's the power of love!

I was playing Pokemon Gold the other day and Jasmine reminded me of Fluttershy. I have ponies on the brain.

Which in turn reminds me that I need to pick up Black 2. Because clearly I don't have enough to do already.

If the theory I've seen pertaining to the season 3 spoiler turns out to be true, we'll be seeing much more of Luna. One can hope.

Even if I know the Doylist explanation, I'll often make up a Watsonian explanation, for the same reason I don't care that my Guild Wars 2 gold has no real value; it's not about having the explanation, it's about making the explanation.

Some people don't really enjoy that, though. More power to 'em.

I'm not sure if I would call that love exactly, though the poison may have had some oddly beneficial side effects.

Hey that's a great way to deal with Changelings. Feed them Love Poison.

It's only just occurring to me how powerful the SRB actually was. Breaking rock, vaporising a barn, pinkies mind...AJ might be stronger, but Dash is definitely the most physically powerful pony.

Yeah, make them OD on love.

I was thinking more that it would poison them.

[up][up]Eh, she really only accomplishes that by turning herself into a projectile, and that doesn't always yield the best results, especially on herself.

Two random self-promotions:

1. I finally finished this drawing of a friend's birthday card.

2. Someone made a page for my fanfic, which gives me an excuse to link to it. tongue

You could have always made the page yourself you know.

But that would deprive himself of the joy of realizing that some fan cares enough about the story the make the page.
That would be running a punchline into the ground.

wild mass guess Love Poison was discovered by Changelings infiltrating the Pre-Classical pegasus military junta, only their experiments with it went horribly wrong and it ruined a kingdom.

You are really lucky that someone did care. Even after creating the Pickory page myself, it only ever got handful of edits by others.
