Changelings are vengeful unspent loose change brought to life.
No they're ponies kidnaped by the Fae and taken to Arcadia, but who later managed to escape back to Equestria, bearing scars of the experience.

I prefer to think that the Changelings are that universe's version of the Fae. Especially since in classical mythology Changelings were a subset of The Fair Folk anyway.

Other way around. Changelings were Fae that replaced a human child to take advantage of the parents' love and care.

If you're talking about the "replace children" part, I know they did that in mythology. Not sure about the "take advantage of their love"

If you switched the colors around on that moth, it really would be Fluttermoth.
