on last night, I figure not mentioning Fluttershy waqs becuase the fachion industry is so fickle cahnging and short term that a former model is forgetten the day after they stop modeling.

And not mentioning RD being best young flyer, does make sense if you focus not on "best flyer" but on the young part. It would be like someone trying to impress some RL high society snobs by saying their friend won some collage tournament. She's trying to appear like their equal, bringing that up would only call attention to how uch younger she is then them and give them another reason to look down on her.

Now she doesn't name drop Princess Celestia's personal protege as being a friend, that one IDK.

@Seraphem: Dashie wants to prove herself on her own merits. She wants to say, "Hey, I'm awesome like you guys are!"

@Seraphem: Celestia's protege was a recluse before she came to Ponyville. I doubt many nobles or the well to do know who she is.

I guess it's just a rule of the show that they'll never be 'famous' no matter how many times they save the world.

Well, see! This is why I wondered for a while just how good the memories of the ponies in this show are. But if you're talking about the snobbish upper-class ponies in Canterlot, then I guess the reasonable conclusion is that those ones have short-term memories!

The show is still primarily slice of life, it's probably just easier for the show crew to ignore any fame they might have then to try to work around it.

An unwritten rule then. Eh, I can live with it.

I just think they don't stand out in the media, plus most ponies don't seem to read regional newspapers, so news doesn't usually travel that far except through correspondance.

First time I can understand, it was in a dark forest away from everypony else, for all the public knows, Celestia and Luna resolved everything between themselves that night.

I see I missed an Aerobat idea roundtable last night. Damn.

People get medals all the time in real life. They don't become instantly famous enough to be recognizable on sight. How many Olympic athletes do you think you would recognize? Their award ceremonies are attended and watched by thousands of times more people than there were ponies at that award ceremony. I'm sure the upper class ponies have heard of a group of ponies given an award for something, but the average pony isn't likely to care or remember exactly who they are or what the award was for.

Upperclass ponies are in a world of their own and don't care about the peasants no matter how many times they save the world.

@Lurker, They singlehandedly saved the world from a being that was turning clouds into cotton candy and made night and day last for seconds at a time, I think someone is going to care at least a little.

Same here. I hope a higher-quality version is circulating out there. Aiming a camera at the TV screen reminds me of the dark ages before people even had Video Cassette Recorders.
