I have yet to meet any real life bronies.

Must work on that.

Well, fans of this show are a subgroup of the normal "nerd" group, so yeah. I'd be surprised if there wasn't any overlap.

@Cookoo: It's not a surprise. I've been at the RPGnet forums, and they've got a lot of pony threads, where they discussed how much Equestria draws from traditional fantasy/D&D tropes. also Friendship Is Dragons.

@Ed: We already have the blindbag minifigs, just make houserules for D&D around them :D

Shipping within the Mane Six is as strong as usual

I wonder what the show's cast and crew think about all the shipping.tongue

Man, Wizards should totally take advantage of the fact that they have access to Hasbro properties. An official MTG set or D&D ruleset for ponies would be the best thing ever.

@Purple

Probably the same thing any crew thinks about shipping: either amusement or apathy.

I've never played D&D.

Never had ready access to D&D material in the real world, but I've played Neverwinter Nights which uses D&D 3.0 rules. Also I play loads of Magic: The Gathering (and that pony fan-expansion got C&D'd for trademark/copyright-protecting reasons, sadly), and tend to frequent /tg/-approved things often.

I remeber that one of the panels basically said that they neither confirm or deny that RD is a 'filly fooler'. I don't think they mind shipping. ^_^

[up]Uh, that's probably not the best term.

I'd play an RPG if it was simple enough. Numbers make my brain hurt.

It's probably more likely that MLP would get it's own game (CCG or RPG) then use existing rules, if only to make it more accessible to the target demographic.

Then again they have already made a slight shift in the current toyline to be a bit more brony oriented, some people are not happy about that.

Would anyone hazard a guess as to what sort of fancy meals ponies might eat? Apart from salads?

@Apple: I always got the idea that if they could stomach it, ponies would like miso soup and seaweed since both can be salty.

I actually frequent the forum where the creator of that fan MTG set posts, and he detailed the legal situation there. It sucks, but he really doesn't have any say in the matter. The set falls under neither fair use nor parody, as he made a whole set incorporating the entirety of both properties rather than just taking a small portion for a joke. The main gripe here is the fact that playing with this fully-functional and freely-distributed fan set is a substitute for actually buying the cards, which is cause for legal action in order to protect the copyrights of both properties.

Maybe a salad made of flowers? *shrug* We'd probably have to see a fancy meal in order to actually figure that out.

Seaweed? I can imagine sea ponies eating that, but not the normal ones.

@Apple: Ponies eating flowers is canon anyway. I reckon their gardens double as decor and as emergency food/snacks.

@Librarian: Ponies that live near the sea might harvest it, or trade for it with seaponies.

@Lurker: The only true tragedy is that Hasbro was forced to do it for reasons of protecting their IP, I'm sure they would have turned a blind eye if it weren't so high-key.

Though considering that if they're anywhere with grass they can just eat that...
