Doesn't that kind of depend on what exactly was meant by "the image of an angel"? I'm not 100% sure a carven stone image counts.
What do I stand for?
Most nights, I don't know anymore.
There's a bunch a crackfics with the "Everypony is Changelings!" Un-twist on fimfiction.net.
I'm starting to think that for a given premise, if it has changelings in it, it's been done.

I dunno, shapeshifting vampires sounds sort of unique to me, unless that was always a vampire trait that I just never knew of.
I think Changelings can only mimic ponies, and possibly other quadrepeds.

Really, the one changeling story I'd want to see would be a deconstruction. A non-evil changeling comes to Ponyville, and gets the typical welcome, but after he gets accused of using his abilities for shenanigans, some of the ponies realize that they can get away with just about anything by blaming him for it, even though he's totally innocent. It's probably out there in some form, but I think it would be interesting to have a story it's based around the shape changing ability without seeing the ability ever actually get used.
There's a fanfic on fimfiction about a changeling who follows the "Old Way" of only taking the identity of a pony who had died in an accident, and fill in the gap, so to speak.
That's honestly still pretty creepy, given that it means a bunch ponies' loved ones have died and they never realized it because a changeling stepped in.
Gee, I wonder which pony that is?
New fanon: Derpy is Scottish.

Good afternoon, people.

Just like in
Source Code (no, it is not a spoiler; you learn it in the beginning).
As I find so much pleasure in that melts away as I breath, I am always full of regret.
I wouldn't call "Changeling goes to Ponyville and just tries to fit in against prejudice" a deconstruction, considering that it's actually one of the most common changeling fic plots.
You know, I think that it would be something of a really powerful upgrade if a Changeling can memorize all the other forms it went through before.

Afternoon everypony. What's going on?
Yeah, Andromeda is heading for you. You got over 9000 years until it collides.
Actually, that idea would work even better with no changeling at all. Like some pony realizes they can get away with something ridiculous and then claim it was a changeling. Then a few other ponies do the same, and everything descends into paranoia when everyone starts to believe there's a changeling around messing with everypony when there actually isn't; it's just a bunch of individuals using the excuse to do stuff they wouldn't do otherwise.

So it's like a ponified
The Crucible?
