[up][up][up] I still love Celestia's entrance. I almost expected her to be in a helicopter or something, what with the "spotlight" she seemed to be emmitting [lol]

Spike should've been allowed to keep that bit at the end of the letter.

Four episodes down so far, The Ticket Master and Applebuck Season. Now its Griffon the Brush Off.

Wondering what the hell that accent was with the cows, Southern or Canadian...

SOOOOOOO MANY ALLITERATIVES AND RHYMES. Oh Spike, you fat bastard you.
You can't stop what's coming.

But if Twilight allowed childish gloating at the end of the letter, she might be sent back to Magic Kindergarten!

Even if he did put it in, Celestia probably would have just found it funny. She knows Spike, after all.

Celestia wasn't angry with Twilight, she was just being stern. She is her teacher after all, and she did make quite a mess of Ponyville.

Perfectly acceptable response, given the chaos she caused.

[up]x5 Spike gets no respect I tells ya, no respect at all.

Geeze, this thread moves at the speed of RD.

I may be the only here but I couldn't help but think of "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" from Fantasia when Princess Celestia (Yensid) came in and cleaned up the mess Twilight Sparkle (Mickey Mouse) made.

Just started watching the episode a few minutes ago- paused at "IF I CAN'T FIND A FRIENDSHIP PROBLEM, I'LL MAKE A FRIENDSHIP PROBLEM".

It's hard when you take something seriously and no-one truly understands, and this happens a lot with studies. I used to be kinda like that, especially in my first year of college.

But those FACES she is making, oh GOD has this episode been HILARIOUS. It's, like, every other scene can be used as an image macro.

Heh, did you guys notice that the lady who wrote 'Lesson Zero' also wrote 'Party of One'? <3

I noticed that too. The animation style feels a bit different.

I noticed that as well, now that you mention it. Especially early on, the animation seemed somehow more stiff than in most of the first season.

But I'm guessing maybe either it's just a one-off flub, or else I'm imagining it.

Also Snails. He gulped down a lot of cake in that Cutie Mark episode, in spite of having a head bigger than his body.

I certainly hope Spike gets more props this season.

At the moment he's either:

  • a problem
  • inconsequential
  • helpful, but his efforts are downplayed to an insulting degree

I want that to change

I noticed it too. Basically the whole thing was very neurotic and cringey, so it might be a stylistic choice. Twilight's insane faces got really worthy of Ren and Stimpy at some points... I guess the lack of evil villains means the main cast has to expand their emotional range, huh...

I want a Spike freakout episode. Or an episode with his parents. If the theories about him having no contact with biological parents are true, he can go look for them. I also want a badass Applejack episode.

Perhaps nobody knows who his biological parents are, His egg was probably a rock when it was found, just like the dragons in A Song of Ice and Fire. Twilight is sort-of his mother. *Pictures Twilight entering a scalding-hot bath with no reaction at all, with a ME GUSTA face, saying with authoritative voice: I AM THE MOTHER OF DRAGONS*

And, well, Spike has gained a lot of respect from me today. Big Mac, on the other hand... has gained afection.

[up][up]That's just typical André the Giant fare, it wasn't the sort of calm competence he'd shown at other points. Also, I fully expect a Big Mac variation of "nope" to come out. You know:

[up]If you flanderize him into a pervert I will pop you.

But yeah, Twilight was pretty damn scary there. I guess one of the things that allows me to laugh from the heart in this show is that I know everything will be solved in the end, and not in the absurdist Simpsons or Fam Guy or South Park "don't give a gentle caress" way, but truly resolved.

wild mass guess Spike's egg was magically created by Celestia. Therefore Celestia is the mother.
