So, Celestia and Luna first used the Manehattan Project, and when that didn't work, they used the Elements of Harmony Project to finally launch an orbital strike right on Discord's head, sealing him into nuclear concrete. He has been suffering radiation poisoning forever, making him immune to radiological weapons.
