I've got nothing to say on the naming issue.tongue
Yeah, Andromeda is heading for you. You got over 9000 years until it collides.

And with the inclusion of All There in the Script names from the toys, Diamond Tiara's full(?) name is Diamond Dazzle Tiara, one Apple Family member is named Peachy Sweet, and Shining Armor & Twilight Sparkle's mother is named Twilight Velvet.

You know, I showed the Cupcakes video to my older sister today.

Halfway through, she told me that it was disgusting and refused to watch the rest.

I made the mistake of assuming that she knew what it was about and didn't give her any warning.

Now I feel bad.

@Wryte You'd think that, but in reality, just how many ponies' names are perfectly indicative of their profession? Not that many. I like to think that ponies changing their names isn't quite as unusual as it is for us, either. Their identity is partially in their cutie mark, leaving their name to be a descriptor of it if they so choose.

What's really confusing is how pony parents seem to have prophetic abilities for naming their children in line with their future personalities and/or talents.

I have never thought about it but yes, that really is curious.

@condottiera - That must have been awkward.
Let the gratuitous fanservice and zaniness be purged.

All of my interactions are awkward.

But she is usually mad at me for some reason anyway.

But after that, we just listened to Irish folk music and talked about something else.

I don't know...Pinkie is pink, so that's hardly a mystery, and pie could be the family theme...that's not to say Pinkie's name was tied to what she would grow to be.

@condottiera Was it the cupcake video you showed earlier that nobody in this thread found funny?

Yes, it was that one.

And I still think that it's funny.

Can't say I found the gorey parts funny... in fact I clutch my chest a couple of time there.

It was the random dancing, and the over the top facial expression that did it for me.

I don't think I've seen this video.

I don't think I've seen this video.

It's an animated version of Cupcakes. That's really all you need to know.

Pinkie predicts that Connie's future job will involve knives.

Oh, it's that one. I find it a little funny due to how macabre it is. I'll agree it is perhaps a little vulgar, but I can't help but chuckle all the same. Of course, I'm the same person who laughs at Flutterthing!

Director: That's good, Pinkie. Let's try it again, with less bouncing. Take 137.

Hopefully it will go better than that vitamin drink she hawked for the Cherry Ranch.

Connie, you remember the scene from John Carpenter's The Thing where the head detaches from the guy's body during the autopsy? Imagine that except the head is Fluttershy's.

Changing the subject. Just last week, I discovered a certain mint-green pony's name is pronounced Lie-ra, not Leer-a. Sorry, Lyra.

Actually, Twilight and SA's names (and possibly their parents') can both be associated with light.

I love John Carpenter 's The Thing!

It is one of my favorite horror movies, and the spider head is totally the best scene.

Could you post a link? I would love to see it.

Not even Twilight Sparkle is best Kurt Russell, though, even if she's a dead ringer for Snake Plissken.

@Syd: Yeah, her name sounds like Lyra from His Dark Materials or like lyre the instrument.

[up][up]Jesus fuck...

I am, at the same time, compelled to watch the movie and to NEVER go anywhere near anything to do with it, ever...
