I can't believe we've gone this long without a Scootaloo chicken joke.

I mean, CMC and pets? Really? C'mon, do I gotta do everything around here?

[up]You say that as though we wanted to hear that meme.

[down]If that is fun, then the world could do with a lot less fun.

Why don't you like fun?

I was thinking less like MTBPW and more like "The CMC badger somepony into getting a pet, which promptly gets out of control".

And fun is totally subjective. I'd have thought we had established that by now.

I know, I'm just quoting a funny comercial.

There can never be enough fun. Dakka is fun, so fun is dakka and thou canst never have enough dakka. [lol]

CMC badgering somepony to get a pet, huh. Who'd be a good candidate? Technically Applebloom already has Winona, and Opal would sour Sweetie on getting another pet.

I could see the CMC trying to hook Cheerilee up with a pet, but she'd be immune to their badgering and just remind them of how well it worked out when the pulled a similar stunt last Hearts & Hooves Day.

They just can't learn their lessons, can they?

Not learning their lessons is the CMC's main character trait.

Mutant killer monster snow goons?

Yep.

They are news.

And they are bad.

Regarding the pet thing, I was thinking more of a cross between MTBPW, Baby Cakes, and A Bird in the Hoof. Like they get a pet, and it runs rampant on them.

You think the Cake twins are gonna come back? Like, are they gonna get any older?

They might bump them up from infants to toddlers, but I can't see them getting older than that. I think the writers want to keep the amount of time passing rather vague.

Probably, if they managed to winkle more continuity into the series.

They're not going to get any older unless we get a time skip of some sort. That probably won't happen either, because the CMC will probably have gotten their marks by then, and that would be a massive shift in the status quo.

If the show keeps going for more years, though, they'll have to do something. The mane cast obviously wouldn't visibly age, but the Crusaders, their classmates, and the twins can't be believably kept in stasis like that.

Maybe the Cakes will move away to solve the problem.

[up]Would they leave Sugar Cube Corner to Pinkie?

My guess is that they would like to, but probably wouldn't. Depends on how well she has developed in the responsibility department.

[down]I'd imagine a year+ has passed already.

I can't imagine that they'd want to remove characters from the cast. Yeah, the Cakes aren't major, but removing them wouldn't really accomplish much.

I think it's more likely that they bump everything up a year or so between seasons. Like maybe at the end of one season, the CMC could get their marks, and the season after that is a year or two later.

[up][up][up]That wouldn't solve the problem of the CMC never aging, though. You could say that the events of the show take place within one year, but that's even more restricting. That means you don't get another Hearth Warming Eve, or another Nightmare Night, or another Hearts and Hooves Day or another Winter Wrap Up, or another Gala...

I always assumed that a season in show = the important events of one year. In the first season, the cast just had a normal Hearth's Warming, so no need to do a story on it, and so forth.

Also, I don't see any value in dropping characters at the present.

If they ever have another Holiday Special for a holiday they've already celebrated, we'll know it's been at least a year.

I don't really think any significant time is going pass or any significant changes will happen in the show at all. Unless my theory about that Season 3 "failing" song turns out to be true.
