Start with the first new season, or with 10 or even with 11.

But yeah, my grandparents have Irish accents. I wish I had one of those.

I would settle for British, though.

I'm almost definitely sure I'm going to miss a bunch of context starting with the 2005 series, but okay whatever.

Rose and The Eleventh Doctor are both good starting points.

I'd recommend The Eleventh Hour but that's just because I vastly prefer Eleven's era over Nine and Ten's. In other words, I'm biased.

It was intentionally set up for people to be a good starting point.

[up] Still, do British people think American accents are cool?

I recently watched everything from the 2005 series up to now, and it's pretty cool. It's a fun sci-fi romp with strong continuity, but the fanbase takes it way too seriously. Like, more seriously than we take this show. I swear, every single aspect and episode of the show has a vocal hatedom.

Yeah, it's fine to start with Rose, the new series does a great job of catching you up with what happened in the past, without falling into massive exposition dumps.

How do you make a Doctor Who fan angry?

Make them watch Doctor Who.

I also learn a lot of British slang.

Like, I was all, "What the hell is a chav?"

Thank you, urban dictionary. Cockney slang is fascinating.

[up] Sick burn. But can you answer the question please?

@Connie I think a lot of Brits think an American accent makes you sound glamorous or Hollywood-ish.

Or they think it makes you sound uneducated. Depends on the accent I guess.tongue

Glamorous and Hollywood-ish?

And British people sound sophisticated and sexy.

Being foreign automatically makes you cooler.

Thanks Puprle Dalek. I can't think of names to save my life, and I was getting tired of referring them as FUCKTAIL AND FUCKWAD.

Is there really any region where people call the garage a "car hole?"

Cause when I went to D.C. people had trouble understanding what I was saying.

I asked for directions to "the garage, " and they were like, "The what?"

But I pronounce it like "graj."

What do you call pop?

What do you call sub sandwiches?

Is it it a fridge or an icebox?

Huh, I thought it was guh-RAHge.

That's how a lot of people say it.

Here, it's one syllable, like a dipthong.

"Graj, " rhymes with the end of "mirage."

Plus, soda is pop.

My dad calls the fridge an "icebox." I think it's something older people do, but it might be cause his parents aren't from America.

A) Fizzy drinks. I know, i know.

B) I think we just call them sub-sandwiches. But I think we call those silly long loafs of bread French loaf.

C) Fridge.

Did people forget that we have a Yack Fest thread for this kind of stuff?

Anayway, for a pony related topic, did season 2 cause any of your opinions about certain characters to change for better or worse?

Season 2 made me like the Crusaders much more. It helped that they actually did stuff other than constantly trying to find their cutie marks.

Really? I heard them call them "fizzy drinks" on Top Gear, but I thought it was a joke. Just like I thought him mispronouncing "Bethlehem" was a joke, until I realized he wasn't mispronouncing it, just pronouncing it differently.

We call em subs, but they are called something else practically everywhere else in the country. It is confusing.

I wondered about the icebox thing, cause my dad's family says that. I didn't know if it was cause they're older or cause they're Irish. I guess that's it.

Plus, fridges on British TV shows are really small.

@Mio: I think the Crusaders took a step up, but other than that I don't think my opinions of any characters changed a great deal.
