Okay, One Piece is really hard to look at because the art is painful in its badness, but the characters are interesting, and I really like the idea of finding new and creative ways to use the same ability rather than having your hero suddenly gain new abilities or aspects of his ability.
Code Geass is easier on the eyes, but it turned into a trainwreck.
@ Blissey: No reason, those are just ones that I have seen and categorized in terms of how much I like them.

Ooh, that's interesting. How was this done in One Piece?

The main character, Luffy, sacrificed his ability to swim for the ability to have a rubber body.
He can use himself like a slingshot or trampoline, he can stretch very far, he doesn't feel cold because Rubber doesn't conduct heat (thus, it doesn't conduct the absence of heat), he will squeeze himself into small spaces, and he can do some pretty cool feats of contortionism. If you punch him in the stomach really hard, it won't break his ribs, it will just stretch out his stomach, and then the force of your punch will rebound back on you.
That's just the tip of the iceberg, there are other characters with one special ability who find dozens of ways to apply it.
The only cost of getting one of those abilities is the ability to swim.
@ATC: That's pretty much how I feel about One Piece; the art is really busy to the point that it's hard to make out what's going on sometimes, and a lot of the character designs border on grotesque sometimes. I have to admit the story grew on me though. I like how it handles the various abilities.
@Kyler: A good example involving the main character: his body is basically rubber, meaning he's invincible against blunt force damage. He eventually learns to use to do stuff like inflating himself to cause bullets and cannonballs to bounce off of himself, stretch his arms to increase his punching strength, slingshotting himself at people, etc. As the series goes on he figures out more ways to manipulate the ability. I.e. he eventually learns stuff like using his the ability to use his legs as a pump to increase his bloodflow to give himself a speed boost.
Hm. I think I might actually be interested in watching this.
(Obligatory) Assuming I actually get around to it.

It is a very fun manga. However, like JT said, the art style can be very busy and the character design very bizarre. Also, in my opinion, it is really hard to take it seriously, even in the dramatic moments, due to all those exaggerated expressions.
Lastly, I dropped it because I got sick of the really slow progress. I will most likely not pick it up again until it ends.

Let the gratuitous fanservice and zaniness be purged.
Yeah, the art style is...unique. When it uses that for humorous moments it works really well, but sometimes when it tries to be dramatic it's Narmed pretty badly by the fact that half the characters look ridiculous. It's other weakness (for me at least) is that a lot of the arcs are too self-contained; like a lot of the plot is "go to island, do stuff, go to next island" with each island basically having it's own plotline. There is an overarching plot, and when it's front and center it's really cool, but sometimes it feels like half the series is Wacky Wayside Tribe type stuff. I mean, Skypeia was cool and all, but it has almost nothing to do with the rest of the series.
Anyway ponies, This is hilarious.
I'M HOME! As in now in the place I, hopefully will not have to move out of for quite awhile, and no more annoying, drunken, messy, hypocritical, lazy, housemates/parents.
Build a fool proof system, and the world will create a better fool.
