So, does this mean that retailers have finally decided that, yes, little girls would love to have their parents buy them a season box set of My Little Pony? Because I recall that basically the reason given originally is that retailers didn't believe parents would buy a $30-$50 box set of My Little Pony for their kids, but will gladly do so with Transformers, Spongebob, or Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

My reaction is roughly the same as JT's.

Hmm, out of the previous DVDs released in the US, the only ones without any S2 or S3 FiM episodes (and thus soon to be unnecessary for FiM episode collectors) are ones that weren't released by Shout! Factory. Coincidence?

Yeah, this is pretty obviously brony-catering. If it was aimed at kids, they wouldn't have cast/director commentary on it and it would be available at stores. Not that I mind at all.

Also, I think the original plan was "release the themed sets, and if they sell enough we'll know that a box set would be worth producing". Apparently the themed sets sold well enough to justify putting out the full season.

I'm $5 off, point remains is I assume the reason was retailers think that's too much for parents when it comes to getting their kids My Little Pony cartoons. Apparently Amazon is the only ones to think otherwise at the moment.

Marketed to fans or not, it just never made sense not to make a season box set. I mean, even without the bonus content, that's like the perfect birthday present for a little girl! 26 episodes of ponies! Wouldn't you loved to get a season box set of your favorite cartoon when you were a kid?

Not making a season box set is like saying the target demographic doesn't like the show. It just....baffles me.

It's only $25 right now; the list price is $35.
