Everyone else: I just came across this on the Kung Fu Wizard trope page:

Rarity in My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic is a unicorn with telekinetic and gem-finding magic. As the season 2 premiere showed, she's trained in some sort of pony martial arts, and she normally uses these for combat rather than her magical skills.

I do not remember that happening, although it sounds kind of awesome.

Rarity learnt Illusion magic as well. It's quite nice to be able to palette-swap your own hats when you want them to match colours with your fashion, innit?

@Blue: The first thing she does to the Manticore in the Pilot? She kicks it in the face! Liarjack cosying up to Tom? Sh gets kicked aside! Changelings in the S2 finale? They get clobbered with mean hooks! Rarity clearly practices to keep her figure.

She was pulling off some rather intense fighting moves keping the other ponies away from Tom while Twi and Discord were debating/arguing/talking/expositing/whatever. plus the rather powerful back kick she gave the manticore in the premeire.

One thing I'm surprised by is the lack of references to the seasons thing in Monty Python and the Holy Grail, especially since it actually makes sense in Equestria.

No I was talking about the thing where it says 'Winter changed to Spring. Spring changed to Summer. Summer changed to Winter. And Winter gave Spring and Summer a miss and went straight on into Autumn.' That's what happens when your winter wrapups go awry.
