Do not want = Utter disgust and horrification.
Do want = Excitement and enthusiasm.
Not sure if want = Confusion and uncertainty (most commonly in the sense of "why am I captivated by this?").

I really don't understand how you need to have these explained. They're perfectly self-explanatory.

Aww... I just realized. I have two classes tomorrow. So even though I'll be up in time to catch the episode whenit airs for once, I won't actually be able to watch it until like, 7 in the evening. That's 12 hours of sitting in class, knowing that there's poni going on without me.

I have a slight problem that I need to watch the show without family members in the house. While It would be fine to watch with my brother (he was a brony not long after I pointed out "this odd internet fad") MY parents don't know that I like it. Its not that they would disaprove exactly (they are very tolerant of things like this, in fact, I suspect my dad knows that my bro is a brony and knows a bit about the fad), I just want to avoid an uncomfortable 'what are you watching moment' and a subsiquent explaining. Not helped by that fact my mom doesn't realy know the ways of the internet well and would see this as very odd (again, my dad would probably get it). I guess this is a better situation than some have though, so I should count myself lucky.

(oh, and 40k is Warhammer 40,000 )

As a matter of opposites attract, methinks. The mythos of 40K is basically that everyone is at war with everyone, all the time. Every faction is made up of bastards of a different colour (except the orks, who are just having fun), and the whole thing is amazingly bloody and dark. So given the fandom's proprensity for dark fics, I'm sure you can see the draw.

As for the game itself, its methods mirror its mythos colosely. Its a game for bastards - victory largely depends on which player has the most cash to burn (and can therefore buy the more expensie, more retardedly powerful units), and who's willing and able to exploit loopholes the most. It also has the draw of actually replicating a battle, as the matches always consist of dozens of little pices all moving around, and the rules take actualnumerical distances into account when attacking. I've never played it myself, but I've watched a game, and let me tell you there's something strangely alluring about two giant men screaming at each other and dropping fistfulls of dice onto the table - up to 20 or so at a time, in one case.

But why the obsession with darkfics?
