@Con: Yeah, I'm preetty sure that's a joke edit, given that Zecora is wearing Spike's pimp hat.

Everytime I try to explain MLP to one of the normals I end up either

a) Trying to explain what a "meme" is

b) Trying to explain what a "trope" is

c) Saying, "No, not that kind of troll"

d) Any combination of the above

[up] Yeah, it was on Snopes. I posted a link to the thread where they talked about it.

Could you repost the link? I missed it.

[up][up][up]Yeah, explaining the show's popularity to someone not familiar with internet culture is hard. When I told my parents that my Derpy toy is probably worth fifty or sixty dollars, they looked at me like I had grown a second head. tongue

Well, the official IDW comics with actual art will probably be the 'unseen episodes'. Not sure if anything in there will affect the show though.

Also another indication of it being a hoax is that their German was terrible. I posted a literal translation at one point, and it's pretty funny.

My best explanation would be "I suck at explaining, go watch a few episodes, and you tell me".

@ed: I get that feeling that they will follow a few things, but for the most part be their own continuity.

@story: Here it is. I don't think the links to the comic work anymore, but they discuss whether or not it's fake.

@JT: I know, it's weird how much the internet really does have a culture. Normal people become Funny Foreigners here.

You know, my older sister once tried to use the word "troll" in an effort to describe someone's behavior, and I facehoofed so hard. She's so cool, except when she's trying to be a geek.

There's not enough Madoka pictures for a themed picdump. I am a little bit disappoint.

My sister is the same way. She drove me to Comic Con, and it was surreal. I fit in and she didn't. It was like a Bizarro Universe. I was all, "Where my bronies at? Bro hoof!" and she was all, "What are you talking about?"

I was totally fangirling, and she started out kinda like she normally is when I get like that by trying to tell me quietly not to talk that way to people, but then she realized everybody was acting that way.

We bonded. It was just like The Breakfast Club, only with souvenirs.

I don't expect knowlessmen to understand memes in general.

Fluttermoth :3

Hmmmm. Was reading an article about a controlled lava flow experiment involving a small furnace and basalt. I'm sure Twi would enjoy studying lava under controlled conditions, also free heating for anypony who takes precautions. Pictures Dashie and Pinkie roasting s'mores over the molten basalt [lol]

Well Equestria doesn't have convection so there's less to worry about.

I'm sure Rarity and Spike would take an interest once Twi discovers you can grow igneous and metamorphic gemstones in lava.

Being a geek is like you have private inside jokes with a billion random social outcasts. I kind of realized what different worlds we both live in.

I'm sure Fluttershy would like moths too. Even that awesome giant Atlas Moth with false snake-heads on its wingtips.

I can't imagine that sort of scenario in the slightest, my sis and I basically go into cons with similar dispiriting only she's more likely to go gleefully bombastic and I'll go silently into the masses unless prompted to not be. And the only person who doesn't understand and needs explaining to usually doesn't need explaining to because she lets us go about our business.

I just remembered, my sis is a Fluttershy cosplayer. I wonder if she has a pic I can show you all...

You should have seen the looks she got when she said, "What's Firefly?" She seriously cramped my non-style.

I guess I know how she feels whenever she lets me hang out with her friends.

[up] I like your current avatar, too. It's very pretty.
