Those aliens never could have invaded Ponyville. It's too close to a major source of doo-kah.

Also, Ponvyville can make water tornados, which aliens are weak to.

It's a tornado. Something tells me it would be fatal even if it WASN'T made of water.

Fluttershy will f**k you up.

But it's a cartoon world so they're completely harmless unless you took the funnel.

@double rainboom: ...this might sound a bit odd, but I think that's animated a bit too smoothly.

Well it certainly looks impressive.

[up][up]I thought pretty much the same thing. There's a little too much animation. People, and presumably ponies, don't normally move that much when they're not doing something active, so it gives it a very slight uncanny valley feel. It's still an amazing piece of work though.

I've decided to brave the My Little Pony tag on tumblr and search for cool art. Hopefully I'll have better results than with the Homestuck tag.

Off to a promising start. I like this art style a lot, but why are her hooves blue?

Asian-looking Fluttershy.

Some Fleur. Kind of looks like an earlier generation art style, but better drawn (i.e. not creepy as hell).

Damn good Zecora.

Okay so this makes Celestia look like a creepy alien. But the concept is really cool at least.

Pinkie gets all the good art.

Aaaaaand read chapter 19 of Fallout Equestria, moving on to 20.

It seems like the story suddenly stopped being irritating and just started being depressing.

One more; Fluttershy.

Starting to run out of good art and run into...unpleasant images. Oh well, at least it went better than the Homestuck attempt.

Wow, this thread is really dead.

[up] I always got the impression it was supposed to be depressing, all the time.

[up][up]In case you need more stories, try "Know Your Mare". If more than a handful of characters had half a brain, then the story would be a fifth of the length it is. Also, it's 75+ chapters, most with less than a thousand words to their name.

Wryte: tongue

Blue: Well, from what I've been told (and now observed to an extent), it's supposed to be depressing with a hope spot. In any event, the writing technique makes the WTG admin in me die just a little bit every other scene.

And now for the drawing: Twi is puzzled. Twice.

Yeah Fallout Equestria never really stops being depressing until right near the end when it starts becoming apparent that hey, all that shit Littlepip goes through futilely trying to make the world suck less? Ponies have been noticing, and even the epically fucked-up Wasteland isn't beyond redemption given some well-placed friendship.

I dunno, I thought it was one of the most satisfying things I've read in a long time, but it does take a certain taste to not just get turned off by how disturbing it is along the way.

you know what would make the greatest reaction image to haters?

Someone needs to make a vector of The Dude pony with text saying "Yeah, well that's just, like, your opinion, man."

Mainly I've just found that for the first seventeen chapters Littlepip is a completely unlikable twat and the story is generally annoying and dull.

Then it's like the story stopped giving me things to make fun of. Maybe I'll think of something tomorrow, but it's like the story got less sucky or something. Not like it makes the first seventeen chapters not a bunch of bullshit, but...

And now I've finished chapter 20.

Meh. I felt like the Wasteland making everyone an unlikeable twat was kind of the point. The apocalypse was only ever half the problem — the other half was that it started because everyone went into twat-mode, stayed in it to survive in the immediate sense, people who tried to stop being twats got killed, and then eventually everyone started thinking being twats was normal.

My biggest issue is that there's so much telling and clunky word choice. Long stretches of paragraphs that tend to be just there and unevocative.

I can tell it was the sort of approach I would've thought was dull and absolutely hated to read about six or seven years ago, but I've grown to appreciate since. Maybe it's an acquired taste, maybe I'm just more patient of bullshit than I used to be, I dunno, but I certainly didn't find it unevocative. I've had the same shift over a lot of classical literature as well.
